Hello:

I have a question about the Video Vocabulary for this lesson:

I think the Video Vocabulary should be All about the new words learned in this lesson (Lesson 1), but the 2nd part of the Vocab (the English-to-Japanese part) were Not words from this lesson! All the 5 words were from the last lesson (lesson 24) of Upper Intermediate Level Season 2 (the lesson about おれおれ詐欺.)

どうして? Perhaps a mistake or a mix-up occurred??

good question!
The original order of いい加減に、気づけよ！社交辞令だったってことに！is;
いい加減に、社交辞令だったってことに気づけよ！
This would be “社交辞令だったということに気づけよ.”
The word of …に気づきます means “to find, realize” and “(という)こと” is a nominalizer, which explains what the person finds/realizes.
You can think about (という)ことに気づく as “to find that [something]”.
Then the sentence can mean “Take a hint, will you? She was just being polite in the postcard!”

Yeah, I think “Catch me/them if you can” works in this situation. And I didn’t mention it in the previous post, but the owner of the dogs is a 60 year old male. He sure is one defiant Ojisan, ne?

I’m still playing catch-up with these lessons, so I’m a little behind. But I just listened to this one this morning and came across the following example in the Asahi Shimbum just now and I think it’s working sharing.

犬を放さないよう警告していたところ、内田容疑者が２匹を敷地外に放した。警告の際、「捕まえられるものなら捕まえてみろ」と話していたという。

And just in case there is any doubt, the warning Uchida-yogisha received was indeed from the police. He’s a pretty brazen dude.

Hi everybody! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!
Japanese can be a tough language to wrap your head around, but hang in there - it’s worth it!
I’m actually kind of jealous - there was nothing like Jpod 101 around when I started learning.
I spent a lot of time mumbling at my electronic dictionary…

Hi Naomi:

Toshiko is my girlfriend - she’s a kick boxer. She doesn’t really beat me up - I’m just kidding. On the other hand I think it’s extremely unlikely that she can keep her New Year’s resolution - so I guess I should use ものなら　－　maybe それを守れるものなら安心だと思います is that correct? (and is the 彼女が・僕は bit really necessary - what do you think?). Was it rude of me to say このようなレッスンを続けるものなら、大変助けると思います (does this imply that I think it unlikely??). Should I have written このようなレッスンを続けることが出来れば —–er —– sorry I’m getting confused again. “If you can keep that standard of lesson up, it will be really helpful to me” or something along those linesは日本語でどう言えばいいですか？

また長い質問ですが。。。すみません。
