Peterさん and the lovely Sakuraさん bring us the latest news. Tune in to hear about our upcoming series lineup for the new year. Which series interests you the most? Be sure to leave a comment.

I’m looking forward to the kanji video lessons a lot, they should really be a big help! Are you planning on just doing one kanji per lesson, or several? As the lessons are only once a week, I’d sooner do more at once, maybe 5-10, and cover the really useful, common stuff first.
To be honest if you could cover common Japanese menu kanji too, that would be great. The last time I was in Japan I was happily speaking Japanese to the staff in restaurants, but sadly looked like a complete muppet when I failed to read the menu.
Good work on everything guys and girls, and it’s nice to hear the ever lovely Sakura more these days. Arigatou!

Good to hear that Sakura is still about. I was beginning to worry she’d disappeared
Sounds like some interesting new stuff. Will the blogs continue to have commentary, or will they be longer?

Mina-san, ありがとうございます!
Really looking forward to a great year together in 2009!
To answer some questions:
タチコマさん、one Kanji per lesson, but we’ll have related words. We’ll be soliciting feedback on the videos, so please keep it coming.
Intermediates will get a new host for Upper Intermediate, who will keep you on your toes.
Also, we’re hoping to have a nice surprise in the second half of 2009.
The blogs will actually be a bit shorter, but they should be much more challenging.
Thank you again everyone!
良いお年を!Happy and Healthy New Year!

Then the past lessons are going to be just available for 7 days?
I can’t listen “Beginner lesson” for free I think it was all free back then… Can anyone explain this?
Tuesday at 11:42 pm
no, jpod is not free anymore. about one month ago they suddenly closed down all previous lessons to download and you had to pay them, of course without informing you before so that you can prepare for it.
furthermore, podcasts are getting worse and worse. in the newer podcasts they are not really teaching anymore. they are reading out the dialogue and tell you which grammar points will be covered in the pdf’s, which you of course have to buy seperately.
really sad that it is all about money also here.
one good advice: look in the internet for older editions of jpod (especially season 1 and 2), which are still available to download from other ressources or find yourself a japanese native to teach you.

peter,
Thanks for your explanation. by the way are you that “peter” teaching japanese here? if you are, is this youguys’ decision? I can’t believe it. I don’t want to complain about this but most of all, I can’t find a site as good as japanesepod101 was… I’ve really depended on this site =p but can’t youguys explan us what is the matter now on this site?
Money? but youguys have done very good so far…
Can’t us help this site out with another way?
Friday at 6:51 pm
no, i am not “peter” from the teaching staff!
i am trying to learn japanese and i am very disappointed with the development jpod has decided to go.
Saturday at 1:37 pm
ブッキーさん、今年もよろしくおねがいします!
Sophi-san, hello, long time. Thank you for listening.
If you subscribe to the feed you’ll get almost ALL lessons for free moving forward plus podcasts released within the last 3 weeks. A basic subscription will get you access to all of the audio and PDFs.
Peter-san, thanks for the feed back. Again, our position on this is that subscribing to the feed you get all the audio for free. The people with us from the beginning should have all the audio for free.
In regards to all about money, I can’t agree with that statement. It’s more about bringing better content such as video material and more interesting ideas.
