Eric san> これからも楽しみにしていてください　:dogeza:

Allen san>Totally agree!

FortFukushima san> staff　は、 「スタッフ」ですね。　おやじ「ギャグ(gyagu)」です。
to learn to do something is either 「～できるようになる」or 「～することを学ぶ」
so in this case,
「ほかのJP１０１スタッフはピーターさんのおやじギャグに馬耳東風でいることを学んだ。」
“You cant let it bug you, you need to learn how to ignore it.”? は
「そんなの気にしないで、無視（むし）できるようにならなくてはいけないよ。」ですね。

プチクレアさん＞そうですね。もともとの意味を勉強すると、もっと分かりやすくなりますね。 When we learn the original root for each yojijukugo, or kanji for that matter, it makes it easier to remember the kanjis

日本語を教えるのはJpod101がやっぱり適材適所だ！

(この例は簡単だよ!!!)

馬耳東風という表現の意味は漢字を見て分かるのは本当に難しいと思うよ。四字熟語の中には面白い表現があるよ！

ha I agree with Allen
全部のJP101スタフは適材適所鵜です！

And for the sake of an example (not personal)

ほかのJP１０１スタフはピータさんのおやじガックを馬耳東風ことを習った。

Can we say that "we've learned to ignore naniNani" or is that taking the phrase out of the context and a bit strange?

For instance, could you use this phrase to say "You cant let it bug you, you need to learn how to ignore it."?

ジャービジ san> Fantastic! That's exactly what I love about language learning :kokoro: and you are right about the meaning

仁居流san> because 材 (wood) has a potential for being useful in people's lives (for building houses, making fire etc), so that came to mean as talent, which is useful to have

I said my friend didn't know 馬耳東風 before, right? I told her it was pretty much the same as 右の耳から左の耳に抜ける. Was that correct?

Since then, though, I've seen 馬耳東風 in a news article; it's funny the way they jump out at you as a unit, rather than one character at a time. Anki is great
