As for why, my Japanese is not up to snuff to explain that this happened while a cadet and was the result of chasing someone who had swung out the window on a bed-sheet. I hopped out without it and would have been fine except that I slipped, fell backward, and broke my arm in three places. My roommate did land OK and helped catch the guy we were chasing…

I feel one of the strongest point of Japanesepod101 lessons is that the dialogues are so humourous and intriguing. Makes the vocabulary and the grammar so much, much, easier to remember! Not to mention you want to keep going on to know what’s happening next.

Great question.
Both 追う　and 　追いかける mean ” to pursuit” “to chase” “to follow”
However 追いかける　carries stronger connotation since it has かける”to run.”
Also 追う　has a meaning of “to drive something away” “to expel” but 追いかける　doesn’t have that meaning.

I hope this makes sense.

Damn, these lessons are so thrilling, that I am just rushing through them and so I don’t really learn the vocabs and the grammar .

Could you please make more boring lessons ?

Where’s the rest of the story to Harue? Mom’s laying on the floor…? and then we jump to the old man at the station, what’s up? I thought the lessons were sequential. Did I get lost somewhere?
