数年前から女性に人気のあるスリッパがあります。初恋ダイエットスリッパです。初恋とは初めての恋という意味です。ユニークな名前のこのスリッパは一見、普通のスリッパのかかとの部分が切られた小さいスリッパに見えます。このスリッパは短いので、つま先立ちで歩かないといけません。つま先立ちで歩く事によって足が細くなり、足の裏のツボも押されて健康になるそうです。これはある主婦の発明から生まれたスリッパです。家事をしながら痩せる方法はないかと考えたことからこのスリッパは発明されました。
他にも主婦が発明したものって結構多くあります。日本の多くの駅のホームに貼ってある乗り換えマップも主婦の発明です。これには電車のどの車両にのれば目的地に一番近い出口に降りられるかや、どの車両に乗れば乗り換え口の近くに降りられるかが書いてあります。これらがわかっていれば、無駄に歩かなくていいので便利です。この発明はある主婦が子供を連れて電車を乗り換えている時に、乗り換え口に一番近い場所がわかったらいいのにと思い、思いついたそうです。そして東京の地下鉄の出口やエレベーターの位置をすべて一人で調べたそうです！すごいですね！

２つの発明はどちらとも「あったらいいな」という思いから生まれました。私も何か発明できないかなと思い、何があったらいいなと思うかを考えてみましたが、どこでもドアなどのドラえもんの道具くらいしか思いつきませんでした。

I’ll agree with Miki-san that the whole concept of a 乗り換えマップ is pretty cool. I can’t read well enough to use them yet, but I love the idea.

On the other hand, oh boy did I have a lot of trouble with the whole ほにゃく蒟蒻 bit.

Let me see if I’m getting this right: it’s a magical potato starch jelly that, if you eat it, causes you to speak Arabic!?!?!?

That doesn’t make any sense…does it just allow you to speak any other language of your choice?

If so, is it available in stores yet!?

And if so, why the HECK am I killing myself with all these Japanese lessons!? What a gip! I’ve been studying for two years and it turns out all I needed was lunch!

OK, ok, 馬鹿馬鹿しい, I know…it’s a Doraemon thing, right?

I just didn’t understand what the ほにゃく part is all about. What’s the Kanji here? And does this stuff have any other magical properties? (Like say, putting TASTE into 蒟蒻?! Now THAT would be magic!)

What is that doraemon thing ? (I guess i should listen to the audio but i’m at work and can’t just now)

I just spent some quality time on YouTube going through some old Doraemon episodes…they’re SO CUTE! And the language level is just about right for me…so it’s perfect for my Immersion Environment. (Yeah, who here hasn’t gone all AJATT at some point?)

I’m also told Sazaesan is an excellent choice for YouTube immersion. It’s not as much fun, but the language level is a little easier (I think Doraemon is pitched at 7-9 year old kids, Sazaesan more at like 5-7 year olds.)

Oh MAN this is such a time-sink!

Diamond.jpに書いてある翻訳技術の開発がいい考えだけど、機械を常に使うのは必要がないと思う。人生は　自分で外国語を勉強して、翻訳を機械なしでやってみたら、翻訳と会話の経験は、もっと詳しくて楽しいかもしれない。 とにかく、多くの人々が常に新しい「おもちゃ」は必要があるので、好奇心から次の世代の発明を待っている。昔ドラえもんが面白い夢をみて、現代、日本人は似ているものを実現できると思っている。

ああっ、、、私は「が」と「は」の使い方を間違えている、ね? それが失礼。　JPPod１０１の中に「が」と「は」の使い方のレッスンを持っているのですか。誰か知ってる? (自分で調べたけど、　見付けられなかった)。

The lesson says that the かかとof the slippers is cut off, and then translates this as the “toe part.” I thought the kakato was the heel. Of course, as with many other important words in other lessons, kakato is not in the vocabulary list. Shouldn’t all such words be listed?
