Hi leosmith,
What kind of OS are you using? If you are having trouble seeing some of the characters in the regular Lesson Notes PDF, please try using the Lesson Notes Lite PDF. Let me know if that works :)

What I don't like about this dialog is the fact that "Richard" is called by his first name by total strangers at the interview. If he were Japanese, he would be called "Smith-san" or "Tanaka-san" or whatever his family name is. This really irks me because after having lived in Japan for more than 30 years, I do not like strangers to call me by my first name just because I'm a foreigner--especially since this is not the Japanese way. Although the dialog is probably authentic from this point....the Japanese way of dealing with foreigners....

インドネシアでも家庭教師が結構多いです。高校生の時に家庭教師を来て頂いた時もあります。うまく行けなかったから、やめてしまった。＞＿＜

I almost become a 家庭教師 when I was in Japan, but I decided not to do it after I met the person. He was an adult man and smoking, I became scared right away and gave the job to my friend who doesn't mind that. I think it was kinda a rude thing to do of me. I hope the excuse I made was acceptable enough for a Japanese speaker who do not usually take frank answers.
