If he were Japanese, he would be called "Smith-san" or "Tanaka-san" or whatever his family name is. This really irks me because after having lived in Japan for more than 30 years, I do not like strangers to call me by my first name just because I'm a foreigner--especially since this is not the Japanese way. Although the dialog is probably authentic from this point....the Japanese way of dealing with foreigners.... I almost become a 家庭教師 when I was in Japan, but I decided not to do it after I met the person. I never found any book that written about how to find a job in Japan for foreigner at all. I am Thai..Now i am living in Japan...
