I really had to laugh out loud today when Natsuko-san said that classified ad looked like Chinese! Oh man, how totally hopeless is it for a foreigner when even Japanese people look at something and think “Man! What are all those crazy squiggles?! Looks like chinese to me!”

Nice lesson today. Hard. I’ll have to read through it two or three more times before I can quite piece together what’s what in the actual ad.

Hello,

Do 交通費別 and 交通費支給 both mean that transportation costs are covered? It seems to me that the former would mean that those costs are separate and you have to cover them yourself. But I suppose 別 could indicate that compensation for those costs are seperate from your salary.

Thanks

Mayumi says:

Brendan-san,

Yes, both of them mean transportation costs are covered. 交通費別 is a little bit confusing, though. I think it should be written as 交通費別支給, but it’s too long to write and 支給 is taken away.

Brendan says:

Okay, that makes sense. Thanks Mayumi.

It seems that the upper intermeidate lessons are getting more difficult, but more and more practical. Very helpful to people live in Japan. Thank you!

The scripts for iphone is also quite useful. My iphone is my best friend now.

It looks like the Lesson Notes PDF got eaten in the site transition. Or were there lesson notes to begin with?

The Lesson Notes are here but there are no line-by-line audio texts, for some reason. I find them among the most helpful elements of these lessons so I wonder why they were omitted here.

Jessi says:

kabukiguyさん,
Sorry about that mistake! You should be able to see the Line by Line audio now :)
