Mina-san no kuni ni wa jishin ga arimasu ka?

Great! I’m the one who’s always begging for news-language stories, so I love this one…
Lets make it a series, though…maybe a crime-story news-language story or a political twist.
I know the news uses specific words that I don’t learn elsewhere, y’all are my only hope!

I’m already looking forward to the next one!
As for Japanese news, I check them out from time to time on Japanprobe.com, but usually I don’t understand too much, except what is explain, written in English below the video, so I still need to practice, I guess…

Hi,
How do you say, “I’m a light sleeper” in Japanese?
I’d probably able to wake up if there’s an earthquake.
I’ve been to Japan for 3times but never experienced an earthquake before.
JapanesePod101:
We don’t have Japanese news in Singapore. But we have a Japanese radio FM.
Japan Hour is famous also.

“I’m a light sleeper”は「眠りが浅い」(nemuri ga asai)です。
I’m a light sleeper so I wake up as soon as an earthquake occurs.
(watashi wa nemuri ga asai no de jishin ga aru to sugu ni okimasu)
です。

I read your comment and went to Japanprobe.com to see if there’re any news reports in japanese, but they’re all in English. What did you mean when you said you didn’t understand the videos except for the English written underneath? Do you mean the YouTube clips posted by others? I’d love to know where I can see japan news or other programs on the internet.

Luluyu, yes, I meant the youtube clips there. The articles are summed up in English, but usually under most of them, there are youtube/dailymotion clips which show the coverage. They are in Japanese (except for the Reuters ones]

I know this isn’t internet, but in the US, if you have DishNetwork, channel 640 is NHK from Japan. It’s a subscription channel, but when the news is on, they unlock it for everyone. They also occasionally unlock for Japanese drama shows (Hataraki Man, Yamada Taro Monogatari , etc).

mtpiper san> That’s interesting! I lived in the States and had DishNetwork but never knew about the news! Japanese shows on American TVs are sometimes from 20 yrs ago, and I think sometimes that’s where some local people get Japanese=Samurai image. lol.

I just wanted to comment on the beta of the expansion questions. I love it!!!
It really reinforced the words I learned, and it helped me to understand the news portion perfectly, even though I was pretty lost when I first listened to it.
