Somehow I’m afraid they’re in for a BIG disappointment… The nicest thing I can think of is having the owner turn them down… The worst thing…I don’t know … Locusts ?

Obon is coming, so maybe this story will end with some sort of ghost haunting the apartment. But I prefer something believable, like the landlord demanding that they take care of his dog “whenever he travels overseas.” And slowly things could be revealed about the dog’s size and personality and how much the landlord is overseas. Both morning and evening walks, of course. Think of the problems they could have with celebrities walking their dogs at the same time! And of course, Hide probably has some allergy to dog hair.

I’m finding this serious to be seriously difficult, I mean close to my head melts when I listen to it difficult. I can decipher the line by line, but it takes time. Should I stick with it? The next level down is lower intermediate (intermediate is no longer running I guess?), which I can generally handle fine, so I’d like to step it up… but this is an almost impossibly high jump in difficulty for me.

Phil-san,
This series has many difficult vocabulary and very polite expressions, and also the stories are long. So, I agree this series would be really difficult. So, I want you to try to listen to other lessons of Upper Intermediate. Please enjoy learning Japanese with us!!

Souuuuuu desu ne….
Okay, so can you say させていただきたいんですが ? Or is that weird and I should stick with させてもらいたいんですが。
I have to ask people to let me do things often lately!
p.s. I am the one that visited a couple of weeks ago and I was wondering how much more money I’d have to pay per month to hang out with Peter, Yuichi, and Natsuko, Naomi, and Jessi senseis while I’m in Tokyo?
Any combination of the above is fine.

In the “Sentence by Sentence with Audio” part (Kanji version), there is a mistake in ヒデ’ssentence when he said “じゃ、申し込みます”:
the correct sentence should be: “じゃ、申し込みます”.
the wrong sentence on the site: “じゃ、申し込みします”.
なおしたほうがいいとおもいます。
Thursday at 5:43 pm
Wenhong-san,
なおした方がいいですね。
Thank you for letting us know.
I fix it right away.
