Have you ever been to a Japanese baseball game?
Sunday at 8:20 pm
Finally!
I was waiting and waiting for “part two”. This was really nice! I picked up a few more baseball terms (I’m making a collection of those). The little inserts with vocabulary explanations were great. Thanks.
It might be too late, but - - “Go, Marines!”
And, finally, the Marines are on the move! They crawled out of 6th place and have been winning lots of games. Today, they beat the leaders, the Lions, 16-0
Here’s their site: http://www.marines.co.jp/ There’s a nice picture of Bobby Valentine, their American manager on the first page.
As you see, I’m a real fan. I got hooked because it’s my Japanese friend’s favorite team.
Thanks, again!

I really enjoy these videos. I used to watch baseball on TV when traveling to Japan on business, but now really wish I had taken the effort to go to a game in person.
There is a fun Japanese baseball website that has not been updated in years that I have always really liked. It has a dictionary of Japanese baseball terms http://www.baywell.ne.jp/users/drlatham/baseball/nihongo/diction.htm ;
Some useful baseball phrases including buying ticket (both from the ticket booth and scalpers), and how to comment on the game: http://www.baywell.ne.jp/users/drlatham/baseball/nihongo/phrases.htm
How to read kanji for Team names: http://www.baywell.ne.jp/users/drlatham/baseball/nihongo/teams.htm
And finally, kanji for family names(a useful set of kanji to be able to know). http://www.baywell.ne.jp/users/drlatham/baseball/nihongo/kanji/kanji.htm

man !

my brand new pc cannot open the video

All the videos on JapanesePod101.com use the H.264 codec. It is a relatively new codec, but the amount of resolution we are able to pack into a video for the file size makes it worth it. You need to have Quicktime 7 for the videos to work, but Quicktime 7 is a requirement for the latest version of iTunes to work, so if you’re running the latest version of iTunes, you should be able to play it. The iTunes store compresses their videos with this same codec.
You can download Quicktime 7 here. Please let me know if you are still not able to play it.

Hi~
面白いですね〜
Wonder if anyone’s still reading these comments??
I’d LOVE to see more video material put out. The audio/visual double input is great (loved the vocab overlays!). Even simply adding a video portion to the current audio lessons that’s like a powerpoint slideshow of vocabulary to match the podcast would be a really great way to get that dual input. I know visiting the site plays that function, but I usually study on the go — when I’m on the computer, there’s a million other things drawing my attention.
Especially with the growing popularity of iPhones and video iPods, I think video is the next big evolution in language learning.
I’m into creating video as well - would love to volunteer to help you guys out with some if it could help bring about more material. I sent an email to that effect about 3 weeks ago, but no reply…
I really love an old NHK series called “Let’s Learn Japanese Basic” - has anyone watched that?
I’ve never seen a learning program that made me want to watch, simply to see what happens with the characters next, like that one could.
I think the mixing of a drama that pulls you into character development with learning is ideal.
Obviously you guys know that as you do it all the time with the audio lessons - would be great to see something more developed for the video side. I know it’s hard and takes a lot of resources…can’t be done so easily in the established studio. Like I said - I’ll be happy to help if you’d like. ^^

thanks for the kind words!! it’s always nice to hear!!
and you’re right, the portable video revolution has begun!
you have mail!
Wednesday at 4:10 pm
Hey Philip, I tried replying to your e-mail, but it doesn’t see to work. Can you email again with a phone number?
Thx!
Peter
