Yes. You need to know both Hiragana and Katakata.

i’m new here….as I was reading the PDF i was looking at the japanese writing and i noticed that it looks like some words are written in kana and some in hiragana…when studying the written form i guess it’s a must to know both rigth?

Ahah, I love Eric.
I was watching a Japanese game show and, in place of the english word “Go!”, the man said “onegaishimasu!” and the clock started. I thought it was interesting. :3

I hope also that season 4 will be free of the annoying “take a listen” expression!

The new series file names are confusing ….

Can we have computer file names that makes the new series easier to find, especially when the three digit number at the start of the file has already been used for another lesson ?

Newbie Series 4 Lesson 1 - 666…..mp3
Upper Int. Lesson 2 - 666….mp3

I suggest that the series number go before the lesson type letters.
E.G. 795-4NB1-(….).mp3

It’s an honor to be on board hosting the newbie series. Since I wasn’t caught and deported for smuggling in my pumpkin seeds (joke, joke. don’t call customs), I’ll be with you the rest of the season.

You never know who you’re going to get at the customs/entry dept. It’s a mixed bag. On the other hand, good luck trying to get the ticketing people trying to speak to you in anything but your native language. Back in my eager-student-of-Japanese days, I had whole conversations where I spoke only Japanese and the ticketing agent spoke only English. Neither of us budged.

Yes, I’m the same Eric from the ePod101 News Flash, but over there I’m known as エリック。
