Surrounded on all sides! Could anyone survive being hit by 2 bikes and a truck? And who would have thought that Japanese housewives could be so dangerous? The story’s not over yet, so you don’t wanna miss this cliff hanger!

We’ll show you how to debate and explain things in natural spoken Japanese. We’ll learn two Japanese phrases for explaining circumstances that cause subsequent actions, to iu wake da and to iu mono. If you’re studying for JLPT2 this year, you won’t want to miss this one!

Mina-san, have you ever ridden a ママチャリ? :kokoro:

The illustrations for this series were made by my friend maniko-san. :dogeza:
If you like them, try to leave her a message in Japanese!
(if she gets a lot of feedback, maybe we can get her to illustrate other stories!) :kokoro:

If you live in japan, check her band’s mobile site and go see her play live!

イラストはとても面白くて上手で、是非今後も見たいです。

今回に出た「ピーターの法則」ですが、ウィキペディアで調べたら面白い説と成っていますね。

Why would a truck be backing into a wall that people walk beside?

I liked this lesson anyway. Lots of useful stuff

It was a difficult, but interesting series. I’m really enjoying this level!

まにこさんの絵はとても素敵だと思います!! :kokoro:

avatar Keiri says:

That was.. difficult. More so than the previous lesson, but I enjoyed it. :kokoro:

Hello,
I am just starting with JapanesePod101.com and I’m enjoying it very much!
I had a question about the “tsunde ita” mattresses. I thought that for transitive verbs, the phrase would be “tsunde aru” instead of “tsunde iru” … so why is it not “tsunde atta mattoresu”?
Sorry — this is probably a very basic question but it’s been bugging me for a few days so I just had to ask!

avatar Naomi says:

Julie-san

Thank you very much for your comment.

Both “Tsunde ita mattoresu ga ochita.” and “Tsunde atta mattoresu ga ochita.” sound fine to me.

However
>>積んでいたマットレスが落ちて。。。 Tsunde atta mattoresu ga ochite…
The base of this sentence is a past progressive sentence

トラックはマットレスを積んでいた。
Torakku wa mattoresu o tsundeita.
The truck was carrying mattresses.
     +
そのマットレスが落ちた。
Sono mattoresu ga ochita.
Those mattresses fall.
     ↓
(トラックが)積んでいたマットレスが落ちた。
Torakku ga tsunde ita mattoresu ga ochita.

Naomi Sensei,
Wakarimashita . . . Doumo arigatou gozaimashita!

avatar PrettyNappy says:

The illustrations are too funny!! The one for this episode has a nice touch of scary too–7 people (8 if you include the truck driver) 2 bikes & a truck all headed for that poor guy!! Ah yabai!!!

Sorry– no JP IME on my iPhone & I don’t have a computer, otherwise…

avatar markystar says:

>>PrettyNappyさん、

i’m glad you liked them. it took a little arm twisting, but manikoさん agreed to do some other illustrations for us. and glad you liked the story… apart from the mattress truck, it’s partly based on a real life experience…. lol. :dogeza:
