日本には至る所に自動販売機があります。これほど自動販売機のある国は他にはちょっと無いでしょう。
少し道を歩けば、すぐに飲み物やタバコの自動販売機を見つけることができます。その他にもアルコール、電池、新聞、アイスクリーム、カップラーメン、ハンバーガー、おでん、花、ティッシュなど、本当にいろいろな物が売られています。飲み物はホットかアイスか選べます。また、氷の有無やコーヒーに入れる砂糖とミルクの量を選べるものもあります。また、コーヒーがドリップされている間、その様子をモニターで実況してくれるものもあり、これは待っていて飽きません。カップラーメンの自動販売機はその場でお湯を入れられる仕組みになっています。
ちょっと田舎へ行けば、生みたての卵が売られている自動販売機もあります。注意してみていると、本当にいろんなものが自動販売機で売られています。空港では旅行保険の自動販売機を発見しました。

自動販売機は日々進化しています。関西地方を中心に、しゃべる自動販売機があります。自動販売機の前でどれにしようかと迷っている人に自動販売機が話しかけてくるのです。しかも方言です！「まいど！」とか「すんません、いま釣り銭切らしてますねん。」など親しげに話しかけてきます。これはけっこう面白いです。そのうち、街を歩いている人に向かって「ねぇ、そこのお姉さん、ジュース冷えてるよ！飲んでかない？」なんて営業し始めるかもしれません・・・。

最近は現金を持っていなくても、携帯電話や電車に乗るためのICカードを使って自動販売機の商品を買えることが増えました。一万円札などの自動販売機で使えない大きなお金しか持っていない時や、小銭を出すのが面倒な時に便利ですね。携帯電話やカードをかざすだけです。

日本の自動販売機は素晴らしいですね！
フランスの自動販売機は飲み物と乗車券だけ買えます。日本に比べて暖かい飲み物がなくて、缶詰清涼飲料だけです。携帯やカードが使えません。もちろんしゃべる自動販売機もありません。つまらない！！！！！
アメリカのアトランタへ行った時、Ipodを売る自動販売機を見ました！

This blog entry was particularly mind-numbing. Could the authors of this blog come up with something a little more interesting please. Vending machines in Japan get old pretty fast. Yahoo has 2,910,000 results for vending machines in japan.

Why not mention the fact that these machines are a total waste of billions of kilowatt-hours of electricity yearly? Why not mention the C02 they emit?

Any country that has a vending machine for every 23 people has nothing to be proud about. This is not a good thing. It’s extremely wasteful.

Im a bit late in commenting as Im pretty far behind on the lessons but just wanted to say; Im really enjoying the new format of having 2 presenters talking round Miki’s blog. I enjoyed this subject (shortening words) and hopefully we’ll see a whole lesson on it sometime in a different series

In the USA we mostly have vending machines for food and drinks. Every once in a while you can find one with travel sized products like mouth-wash and potable tooth brushes.
