Mina-san, how do you save money? Or do you just spend, spend, spend?
There was an passage of Ranma 1/2 that really helped me understand that usage of なんか.
The main female character is being chased by hordes of guys who want to marry her. She beats them up one buy one, the whole time screaming 「
The best way to save money is to work overtime.
Maintain a life of Karoshi and you’ll save plenty of money for your funeral.
hmmm…it’s a plan many follow to their grave…
Hey! I thought the Personal Finance angle in this series was just a cover to introduce Honorific Japanese!
We’ve had plenty of practice with Casual Japanese…but not that much with honorifics. Eye on the ball, folks…we need practice with honorific and humble language!
(Also, help understanding the news…pretty please…with a cherry on top…)
actually, when i wrote this out, it was originally intended to be strictly a functional lesson, with a focus on related vocab. (so we still have our eye on the ball, unfortunately the honorifics/humbles were just an inevitable byproduct of the context).
but have no fear! more honorifics/humbles are coming down the pipe!
