Have you ever been to a jikka? Jikka is the Japanese word for one’s home, as in the place where they grew up. Have you ever been to a Japanese friend’s jikka? Would you know what to do if you went? Well, in today’s lesson, we’re visiting a Japanese home with Fuyuka and Fabrizio!
We teach you the conjugation of Group 2 Japanese verbs as well as the dictionary form (plain form) used in casual Japanese conversation and other grammatical constructions. We’ll also show you how to offer food (or anything, really) to others! All in all, an important lesson for those starting to learn Japanese!

Mina-san, what do you like for breakfast? Or are you like Fabrizio?
Awesome revision of verb conjugation, I really love this summarization of all 3 classes of verb. May we have more all-in-one summarization lessons in the future?

The week after next, verb conjugation of class 3 verbs.
this is so awesome tonight i will tell my friend this web page rocks and she will

I agree with Rebekah about English, the conjugation rules are much more complicated, and there are so many exceptions that they aren’t much help anyway. I don’t envy people learning it as a second language
朝ご飯はコーヒーだけ飲みます。作って食べるより、あと10、15分ぐらい眠る方がいいと思いますよね。だからといって、朝ご飯としてシリアルやフルーツなどが好きじゃないわけじゃありません。ただ、朝に弱いんです
うわああああ~ !!! この写真、美味しそう!!!
I just can’t go without breakfast… it’s the one meal of the day for which I can actually take time for myself, and know for sure that it will take place, and when. So even if it means a little less sleep, I’d rather wake up for my breakfast.
This picture looks like a hotel-style breakfast!
My breakfast is usually toast and something like miso-soup left over from the dinner for the previous night.

I agree. Actually, all the comments made me hungry…
Naomi先生、
はい、そうです!
Actually, it’s “pain au chocolat”, which translate directly to “chocolate bread”, but it’s closer to croissant. Though it’s shaped differently, it’s croissant dough with one or two chocolate bars put in it before it’s cooked. It’s a much beloved bakery treat !
I searched my dictionaries yesterday, and found both チョコレートパンand チョコクロ as the translation. And actually the チョコクロ they sell in one of the coffee chain shops in Japan (I think it’s St Marc) are the closest thing to real “pain au chocolat”…
“Pain au chocolat” is not to be confused with “pain avec du chocolat” (regular bread with chocolate bars added to it as a home-made mid-afternoon snack) and “croissant au chocolat” (croissant topped with melted chocolate and sometimes filled with chocolate cream too).
お腹が空いてなっちゃった!でも今朝ご飯の時間ですから、大丈夫ですよ!いただきます!

waterman-san, you gravatar appears just fine here (nice cat
). You’re possibly looking at a cached version of the page. Give it a few hours, it will show up!
