こんなところに階段があるよ。上ってみようか。 This first part is translated as “We got stairs here”.
My question is what does こんな here actually mean? I know it means “here”, but it feels weird to me??? Can someone teach me how to use こんな

こんな is actually a contraction of このような, so it means ‘like this, this kind of’. When used as an adverb, こんなに, it means ‘to this extent, so’.

こんな高い品物が好きだよ。
I like this kind of expensive product.
こんなに高いもの、買わないよ。
I won’t buy something this/so expensive.

In the first example, こんな modifies 品物, whereas in the second example こんなに modifies 高い.

So, こんなところに just means ‘ at a place like this’.
