Mina-san, the NTT Building in Shinjuku was built to look like the Empire State Building. If you take a walk through Shinjuku Park (Shinjuku Gyoen), you get a strange feeling you’re in Central Park. Very strange.
Saturday at 9:12 pm
I have never been to Central Park so seeing that building isn’t so strange. But now that you mention it, it DOES look like the Empire State Building.

That’s one of the things I like most about 新宿御苑. You’re right in the middle of the city, you can see the skyscrapers all around, but in the garden itself everything is so peaceful!
Naomi先生, some people do indeed walk from Harajuku to Shinjuku !!! I agree there’s not much to see, but some people actually enjoy walking !

>>I agree there’s not much to see, but some people actually enjoy walking !
i totally agree!!
when the weather is nice i try to get lost!
or i have my favorite “history walks” in tokyo. sometimes i bring friends with me and show them the local history, but usually i have to go by myself. you can walk for long distances in tokyo and generally never get bored!

“History walks” sound very nice !

I can’t agree with you more. I love walking down side streets and hidden spots around whatever town I am in. You can learn so much just by taking a long walk.A good one is from Ikebukuro to Komagome. There is a couple of hidden gems (in terms of temples and parks just waiting to be discovered).
BTW guys great work with the expressions on the PDF today

i like to walk 鶯谷駅 through 上野公園 and cover all the area that used to be kaneiji and end the walk in 谷中霊園. you can see important sites from the Ueno War, Ueno Toshogu is there. the old remains of the old 江戸大仏, the tomb of the shogitai, kiyomizu kannon-do, and the tombs of 3 tokugawa shoguns and the few remaining buildings of kaneiji. oh, yeah, there are also some temples associated with the 赤穂浪士.

I am sorry Peter-sensei,
The iPod is good but not great, there are better MP3 players out there. It is just a fad right now. Sony has some good products - their TVs and their Video Cameras are quiet good. I use their Walkman phone to listen to JPOD on the bus so if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be able to listen to you guys

Favorite Walk
Shinjuku-Yoyogi-Harajuku-Shibuya-Hiroo- up the hill to Ropongi. Usually with JPod in my ears.

どうもすみませんでした。
Yes. I was wrong. It seems like a lot of people enjoy working Shibuya~Harajuku~Yoyogi~Shinjuku. 知りませんでした。
There are a lot of young(??) people in unique fashion hanging around on the brige to Meiji Shrine.(near torii gate)
Has anyone talked to them?
Wednesday at 5:54 am
We walked from Shibuya to Harajuku to Shinjuku one morning in Tokyo. It was fun!
Naomi-sensei is right though, the walk from Harajuku to Shibuya along Meiji-dori is the best part, very pretty with the trees and lots of shops!

So far a lot of picture in the “Premium Lesson” have been taken near that station. Is that because the JP101 office is near there?
Friday at 10:11 am
もう、Peterさん。。。 So obsessed w/Apple.
Just b/c it started the trend doesn’t mean it’s the end all be all.
I use the media player on my phone, and even though it’s basic it works great.
Friday at 10:12 am
Ah, @Abrassart - their office is in Akasaka, really close to the shrine there (Meiji-jingu shrine I think…).
Friday at 10:18 am
Most of the pictures used for the Premium lessons were taken in Harajuku, where Meiji-Jingu shrine is. Like LittleDebbie11-san said, though, our office is located in Akasaka
Hie Jinja is right across the street from our office.

What is the difference between Etto, kono michi o massugu iku to Shinjuku ni iki masu yo and Etto, kono michi o massugu iku to Shinjuku ni ikimasu yo in the Content Questions? They seem to say the same thing. All I got out of these 2 sentences is that “Ummmm, I went to Shinjuku but I went straight right(yo).” But why use to go 2 or 3x in the sentence?
Monday at 12:19 am
What does kono michi mean?
Monday at 12:25 am
New York reminds me of Japan!
