When will the first video appear?
I am trying to learn all the baseball terms in Japanese. So, thanks for mentioning “senshu” — “player”. It would be great if you could make up a list of all the terms for “run”, “inning”, etc.
Does everybody know there are two baseball leagues in Japan? Chiba Lotte Marines (named after “Lotte Candy” company) is one of 6 teams in the Pacific League. There are 6 teams in the Central League. Just as in major league ball in the U.S., they have play-offs and, in October, they have the “Japan Series”, corresponding to the World Series.
Wish I could go to those games with you all! But, I am enjoying watching Fukudome sensei, a hot young player who has recently joined the Chicago Cubs.
It’s so exciting that we will see inside the ball park and learn about Japanese baseball. It’s a difficult thing for a foreigner to learn about. Many thanks for this!!
P.S.
To find out about Japanese ball players on major league teams, check out this website/podcast: http://www.japaneseballplayers.com/en/ This is produced by two Japanese guys living in the U.S. Their podcast is completely in Japanese.
In the U.S., if there is a Japanese player on the team, the Japanese-Americans and other Japanophiles go to the ball park with signs in Japanese, flags, banners and hachimaki!
Daisuke Matsuzaka (known as “Dice K”) of the Boston Red Sox (a phenomenal pitcher) and Hideki Matsui, of the New York Yankees, are two famous Japanese players in the U.S.
Does anyone pick up on this — I LOVE BASEBALL!
Can you link the survey when it is up and running? I am kinda curious which names you boiled it down to. *g*
Liz-san, Lotte! Lotte! Lotte!
We should be releasing the videos sometime over the next 2 weeks. The Marines really took care of us. The organization, Larry and a few more to be named later
are the definition of Class Act.
