ために is used to express your (strong) intention and/or purpose and ように is used with the sense of hope (that’s why it comes after れる/られる expressing the possibility). For example;
1. Tom Cruise ni au tameni => to (in order to, because I want to) see Tom Cruise.
This can be used in a conversation like;
A: Why are you going to the airport?
B: Because I want to see Tom Cruise.
In this case, person B knows Tom Cruise arrives at the airport (and maybe what time).

2. Tom Cruise ni aeu youni. => to make it possible to (wishing, hoping, in order to) see Tom Cruise.
This can be used in a conversation like;
A: Why are you going to the airport?
B: Because I want to see Tom Cruise.
In this case, person B knows Tom Cruise arrives at the airport but very probably not sure what time he arrives, or anyway not sure whether or not lucky enough to see him.

ために is used with transitive verbs, and ように is used with intransitive verbs, or verbs in their potential or nai form.
so
tom cruise ni au tame dasu.
why use tame with intransitive verbs.
instead of
tom cruise ni au youni .

-Tame ni only follows informal form.
The usage of -tame ni is covered in beginner Lesson 62. So please check that lesson’s PDF.
-Tame ni will be also covered in beginner season 6 Lesson 15 which will be published on August 1st this year. So please check that lesson too.

When we were kids we’d link our little fingers while we swore to something. Actually, I think I even remember once my friend and I drawing blood on one of our fingers and touching the blood together while making our promises. Now we’re all grown up and sign contracts!!! Hi Guys,

I know I’m a little late talking about this lesson, but I’ve been working my way through everything and only now gotten this far.

I couldn’t stop laughing about yubikiri. This is what my wife says to me when I promise her we’ll do something special that she’s looking forward to. So while I understood the general meaning of the saying this certainly clears things up for me.

Anyway, great job guys, this is certainly the ‘real deal’ when it comes to the Japanese language and something we’re not likely to learn in any textbook!
