Start Learning Japanese at JapanesePod101.com! Fabrizio and Fuyuka are driving through Shikoku discussing cars. As we all know, Fabrizio has expensive taste, so we’ll learn what kind of cars he loves and what kind of cars he thinks are dasai (lame). Our function is talking about likes and dislikes using suki and kirai. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and be sure to leave us a post!

I asked my (Japanese) girlfriend some of these questions.
http://cdn4.libsyn.com/maxiewawa/Max__Aika_-_Questions_About_Cars.MP3
The questions were,
“Dono kuruma ga ichiban suki desu ka?”
“Unten ga suki desu ka?”
“Menkyo motte imasuka?”
We get a bit off track, and the conversation wanders around a bit, but those are the three questions I had written in front of me when I did our little “interview”. Why not try it out with a Japanese friend and let us know the results!
I like fast sports car…. but I have absolutely zero chance of ever buying one, and anyway it’s no use driving a sports car in town… So like Fabrizio I never got a driver’s license. If by chance I get the money for the car, then I’ll consider learning !
On a tech point : I just tried downloading on iTunes and only got the notes and video vocab… no audio at all… though of course it works on site. And the video vocab for last week’s newbie lesson is still missing too…
I read that the character 好 actually used the mean girl/young woman, as you can tell from the radicals. Since young women were seen as the most desirable, it later came to mean like/good. Personally, I think Japanese おばさん deserve a little more credit
I don’t know about おばさん, but the young cuties in Shibuya take the cake for the most desirable in my book.

このNewbie lessonsはとても大好きですよ。
それは本当に楽しかった。
Fabrizio was talking so enthusiastically before Fuyuka-san almost had an accident… it was really funny to see how he changed his pace and topic after that!!!!
私はジープ・チェロキーが大好きです。
If I’m out drinking late I can put the back seats down and sleep in the back.
P.S. - I know it’s really late for me to have noticed, but where did Yoshi-san go?
ブラッド(not Pitt),
Haha! Yes, it is really late to notice that Yoshi is gone!
I think he left JPOD around January, 2007. ![]()
Yoshi-san began working with his Tokyo Circus. Last fall, he decided to perform his act in all 50 states. He did it! See his web site: http://www.tokyocircus.jp/ It was my good fortune to meet Yoshi and he stayed at our house for two nights! ![]()
I know a lot of us really miss Yoshi-san!
His voice and his sense of humor were so great. ![]()
But, we wish him well in his new pursuits.
Yea, I did a little searching on the forums and found the link. Just signed up like 2 weeks ago (wish I knew about the site earlier) and I think I’ve listened through all the newbie -> beginner s3 lessons and he just disappeared out of no where. Need more Sakura too.
I vote for a reunion episode.
>>Need more Sakura too.
peter and i agree with you! but she’s one of the most in-demand interpreters in the tokyo area, so her schedule is really busy. we’re lucky if we can get her for 30 minutes every 2 weeks. ![]()
if you notice the erratic publication dates of My Tokyo Travelblogue (and the fact that it took a year to cover 25 days), it shows how difficult it’s been to get her recently.
i only met yoshi a few times, but i agree, the dude was hilarious in those campy old episodes.
BY THE WAY

This one is pretty wierd… I feel sorry for poor Miyu-chan going home with this guy and being forced to look at his collection of manhole photos.
Who comes up with this stuff?
:-)
Kitty-chan,
Croydon is a suburb in Melbourne, Australia. Unless, of course, there’s another Croydon.
There’s another Croydon in South London, mate! ![]()
It’s a bit of a rough place.
I just downloaded the lesson, and there appears to be a bug in the PDF. In the Kanji section, Fabrizio’s last line appears to be indented and set weird, compared to the rest.
クリストファーさん、
Thank you for letting us know the error in the PDF. I fixed it.
