Learn Japanese Dialects at JapanesePod101.com! Today Rie, Yuuki and Marky return for the final installment of our look at the Niigata Dialect. We have an interesting conversation between Rie’s sister and a monk about a dog… well, you’ll just have to listen to see what we mean. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and be sure to leave us a post!

Mina-san, 本当にお疲れ様です!
There were some really interesting words in this dialect. Of course, we’re not trying to teach you to be fluent in any dialect, but at least you can get some words to impress your friends or use when you visit Niigata.
I still find the sound of it veeeery funny…. but I love those dialect lessons !
On a completely different subject, looks like GermanPod is up and running !!!! Thanks guys !!!
It cut off for me too (I assumed it was IE glitching up as usual), so I’ll try again now after clearing my cache.
I suppose this is the last we’ll hear of Rie-san, but hopefully the tradition of great dialect gals continues in the future
strange, it was working yesterday at 6 pm tokyo time, i’ll have it fixed in a few hours, hold tight guys! sorry for the inconvenience!
申し訳ねぇ!
hey guys!
still not sure what happened there, but should be working fine. it will show up as a new file in iTunes and you can just delete the old one♪
Yes, I was wondering why there were two. Thanks for fixing it Marky.
Is it just me or do all the dialect girls sound smokin’ hot?
And super cool?
PS. What kind of things is this guy in the intro collecting? This girl needs to be careful!
I was thinking the same thing. This guy sounds like a creep.
He probably collects panties. No seriously. It happens over here. ![]()

By the way, I live in Okayama. Any plans on covering the Okayama Dialect?
I heard it has a bad reputation in Japan.
Thank you guys!!
I was trying really hard to be creepy.
最高の賛辞でございます。
So stay tuned to find out his secret!
What do you mean stay tuned? Is the intro a series?
I noticed that about some other intros!
Looking forward 2 the rest of this week’s mini-drama.
また本当に面白いレッスンでした!
新潟弁って、標準語と本当に違うんですね。でも本当に勉強になりました。ありがとう!
