According to Sanseidou Japanese dictionary…
●相手の家・家庭・会社をいう語。
●ほぼ対等の、あまり親しくない相手に軽い敬意をもっていう語。

簡単に言うと・・・ If I can simplify,

あなた/anata— “you” in general. (Can not used to people who have higher social status)
君/kimi　—- used mainly by male speakers. Kimi can be used to people who have lower (or the same) social status .
お宅/otaku— used for people who have the same social status as you and who are not so close to you.

I was interested to hear 西游记, the epic Chinese story mentioned. It is better known in the west as “Monkey Magic”. It tells the story of the monkey king who travels to India (i think) to fight the gods, or talk to buddha (something like that!)

Not many people (who don’t speak Chinese/Japanese) I have mentioned it know it as “Journey to the west” or “Pilgrammage to the west” but when they hear its name “Monkey Magic” a lot of people have heard of it.

そうだね　その写真すごい伝統的な習慣かどうか知らないけど梅の花も日本ぽくて咲いてる時期も酒飲みながら楽しめる。場所とり大変じゃないし公園は混んでないから楽にできる。

last minute dash to find a good spot in a overcrowded parks where people start drinking in the morning, by lunchtime things get pretty rowdy and by evening… well, let’s just say few people remember what happened without the help of photographs.
