Mina-san, we hope this cleared up any confusion between しか, ばかり and だけ. Now it’s your turn to use them!

How can Yuuichi-kun keep up his confidence as alpha-male if you hammer him with the grim reality of his low position on the totem pole?

Like father, like son ? Taro has chosen a girlfriend just like his own mother…
I’m not sure living with Kumi would be that nice… complaining all the time…looking at other people’s plates all the time…brr…
では、すき焼きは私の一番好きな食べ物ですよ!
とっても美味しいですよね!レストランに行くといつもすき焼きを食べます。皆さん、ぜひ食べてみてください!

Sukiyaki is out of this world…
And I don’t think wasabi usually comes into play with sukiyaki… hmm… there must be another clue here…

This is a great lesson.
I love the way everything is revised.

歯はいい。。。。I like this phrase.

Thank you for the details examination of だけ、ばかり、しか。Tons of information in the PDFs and some humor to go along with it. Well done Jpod.

I agree about Kumi, she seems higher strung than a pinata. Tarou was probably late for the concert so he could go straight in and let the orchestra drown out her nagging. The dad mentioned the mother rather nonchalantly… if she was like Kumi, maybe her death was the result of a domestic “accident”
歯はいい… Peter has a reputation for bad jokes, but I think even he must have been shocked to hear that one
Maybe Naomi’s ‘prepared joke’ should be a weekly event
I think there should be more lessons comparing similar particles like this one. I got ‘How to Tell the Difference between Japanese Particles’ (Naoko Chino) this week, and each section groups a set of particles with similar functions and has a little quiz after a detailed explanation, it’s really useful. Jpod can be further useful since the dialogues put everything into context, and stick in your head more than random example sentences.

Hi all, I liked that this lesson was a revision lesson. I think it’s a great idea to do this every now and then. It helps to ‘tie everything up’ and helps put it all into perspective.
Saturday at 6:25 pm
Is it just me or did the japanese not match the english in this one? Looking at the ipod romanji, the line むかしから seems to be missing from the japanese but it’s translated in the english.
Thursday at 1:33 pm
Hi, really good lessons! One small complaint, what’s up with Peter and Naomi, it seems like he is bullying her! I’m sure its all in good nature but it doesn’t come across very nice. I feel kinda sorry for Naomi
Thursday at 11:59 pm
Complaint? I still miss Peter-san’s thinly veiled implications that Takase-san is some kind of criminal mastermind or evil villain.
Thursday at 4:07 pm
That was a great joke!!!! hahaha I like how quickly the lesson started.
