Learn Japanese on your own terms at JapanesePod101.com! Today’s story is about a high school student named Wasabi-chan. She came to her part-time job at the sushi shop only to find out that all the wasabi (Japanese horseradish) is missing!! Oh no! But that’s OK, because Wasabi-chan is secretly a ku-no-ichi (female ninja), so she might be able to get to the bottom of this. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and be sure to leave us a post!

Mina-san, what could be happening to all the wasabi? I’ll give you a hint: it doesn’t have anything to do with 大将.

WoW!
Female Ninjas?! How cool!!!!
I have a theory about the wasabi! It’s being stolen by an invisible robot!

In the intro, we got ‘まくる’… Rikaichan says that it is a “verb suffix to indicate reckless abandon to the activity, it was translated in the pdf as “to write like there’s no tomorrow”… I’m going to try to use that suffix some time this week, it sounds funny!
わさびは確かにさるにでも盗まれた。
なければも何となく、猿が出て来るでしょう!
I’m sure that monkeys will come into it in some capacity.
Was I right?

Oh, i just love whodunnits. Let’s see . . . There’s no butler here . . . but there is a young part-time worker who hates wasabi . . . and they’ve entitled this series “female ninja” . . . hmmmm
It’s just too byzantine a plot. I need some 飲spiration to figure this out.

I bet it was the Translator from the Upper Intermediate Seires!

I’m with Maxie on this one. That monkey hasn’t shown up in the Beginner series yet. He’s probably out stealing wasabi to make a trap for his trainer. Er, ex-trainer.

its Taro !
Thursday at 11:35 pm
Are we gonna have another mini-series about the missing wasabi?
Kore wa sugeee!!!
We already have the monkey and the invisible robot as suspects. I’ll try something different, then. Let’s see… maybe it was the boss who “stole” his own wasabi to try to put the blame on someone else!!!
Mata!

I point the finger to Wasabi-chan. She’s already said she hates wasabi, and so probably replaced all the wasabi with mustard because of her own personal tastes.

Wasabi - chan is secretely working with Taro to establish a monkey supremacy over Japan and then the whole world. This nefarious plot includes the bike Taro stole on New Year’s Day and a wasabi bomb… Wasabi - chan is madly in love with Taro , and has caused him to be late for his appoitment with his so-called girlfriend, Kumi ( like the Taro she’s dating his human) The bomb is due to set off during the international conference Matsudaira will be holding, forcing an international incident that will plunge the world into chaos, thus making the monkey takeover easier. However, Fabrizio, while pretending not to speak English, is in fact a CIA spy working to undermine the whole project (Style You offices are located right to the conference hall)…
I think it might be time for my medicine …

プチクレア, I think you have the most information here… but you’re forgetting one really important person:
THE GUY WHO CAN’T GET HIS KIDS TO READ.
I thought that story was suspicious from the beginning.
Friday at 3:10 am
PS: Really looking forward to the rest of this Wasabi story!
Friday at 4:04 am
ah…Christmas Burgerさん, you got me there…
However, as you may have noticed, Wasabi’s plan is in grave jeopardy as 警備員Costnerさん, also a CIA spy, is slowly but surely getting into Kumi’s confidence, giving Fabrizio another way to get to Taro !!!
What lies in store for Kumi and Wasabi, both mere pawns in Taro’s and Fabrizio’s mad gambit for power ????
Stay tuned to find out…
Friday at 5:34 am
Maybe Wasabi-chan pretended not to like wasabi up until this point as a cover for the heist. With her ninja skills she’d have the ability, and perhaps being intrigued by Natsuko’s experimental pasta dishes, the timing would be right. どうじゃろうのぉ?

プチクレアさん。。。
パチパチパチパチパチパチパチ
I think you should be hired for creating the stories. That was amazing!!!
Please, tell me when you decide to publish a mystery book!!! I’ll be looking forward to that!!!
Xmas burger-san, great point!!! We can’t leave any evidence behind!!!

プチクレアさん
No, no. Stay away from your meds. You’ll lose your muse! I love it!

It was eaten by a giant gokiburi, so it can gain a fearsome fiery hot breath weapon. Gokiburi-san will then attack Fabrizio.
Friday at 3:21 pm
The gokiburi ate Cincinnati. Wasabi-chan ate the wasabi (and then followed it with a large portion of Tokyo).

I am confused. I am a premium member but I rarely even come to this site but today I listened to this lesson and I noticed the commentary is missing. Do all the newer lessons lack commentary by Peter?
Saturday at 11:58 am
Nevermind my previous comment. I got it straightened out.
