Hi, I've been making takoyaki at home (Seattle) for a while now. Got a bad jones for it this weekend, didn't have any of the bagged batter mix, so I tried Bisquick.
Worked perfectly. Would have been a little better if I had used Dashi instead of water for the liquid, but here you go;
1c. Bisquick, 1 egg, 1c. water (dashi) Makes 24 balls.

I've been experimenting with fillings too, try using chinese sausage sometime, I almost like it better than octopus. I make "Breakfast balls" sometimes, with bacon onion and cheese, also yummy.

I'm from Paris France and we're lucky to have one restaurant where we can get takoyaki. the sell them only from 6pm to 10pm tho but it's still better than nothing.
Next time i'll go to japan (hopefully november this year), i'll probably buy a takoyakiki to make them at home

When I make pancakes I use 小麦粉, baking soda, salt, sugar, eggs, butter, and milk

So, what exactly is in ホットケーキの粉? What do you need to add to make hotcakes?
Maybe it's like American Bisquick...
