みなさんこんにちは、美樹のブログです。
秋は一年で一番過ごしやすい季節ですね。今日は秋をテーマにしたことわざを紹介したいと思います。
「秋茄子は嫁に食わすな」ということわざがあります。秋の茄子はとてもおいしいです。どうしておいしい秋茄子を嫁に食べさせてはいけないのでしょうか？
このことわざは、おいしい秋茄子を嫁に食べさせるのはもったいないという姑の意地悪からできたという説があります。
しかしこのことわざには、もう一つの説があります。茄子をたくさん食べるとお腹が冷えるから、大切なお嫁さんには食べさせないほうがいいという思いやりの説です。
一つ目の説はずいぶんひどいと思いますが、嫁と姑の仲が悪いのはよく聞く話です。あなたの家では、嫁と姑は仲がいいですか？
この茄子のことわざの説は、どちらの説が正しいのかはわかっていませんが、私は二つ目の説を信じたいと思います。
秋のことわざといえば、もうひとつよく耳にするのが「女心と秋の空」ということわざです。これは、秋の空は女心のように変わりやすいという意味です。もともとこのことわざは「男心と秋の空」だったそうです。みなさんの心は秋の空のように変わりやすいですか？
みなさんの国には秋についてのことわざはありますか？

“The Autumn Of Life” は死にそう人。。。 (I’m sure someone can put it a bit more delicately than that) でもそれはことわざと呼べるかな？

秋についてのことわざは覚えていませんが、秋が一番好きな季節です。
秋の景色や秋の変わりやすい空など魅力的で、秋の食べ物は特においしいと思います。

I also want to believe that the second myth is the correct one because my family still doesn’t have mother-in-law or daughter-in-law because my brothers are still single and looking around circles.

Sorry, that Chinese proverb might be a bit harder than I thought… I looked up 叶 on Rikachan after posting, and it means something completely different in Japanese!
In Chinese, 叶 means ‘leaf’, so the entire idiom means ‘to understand Autumn through one leaf’. Or for all you people unfamiliar with Ye Olde English, it means ‘to understand Fall through one leaf’. I think it loses something in the translation though.
It means that you can understand a larger concept by closely examining just a small part of it.
Somehow 叶える or the Japanese verb ‘to wish’ uses the same 漢字。

今週も面白い話、ありがとうございます！
韓国でも美樹ちゃんが紹介してくれた諺と似てる諺があります。 
そして、これは日本ではどうか分からないんですけど、
「秋の雨は、ほうきで避けられる。」という諺があります。
秋はそんなに雨が沢山降らないということだと思いますが、
それが現実といくらあってるかは分かりません。

I also suffered from Depresion and had to take medication before because somebody I love very much rejected my proposition long time ago but now I feel much better now, I forgive and found someone else.
I honestly like Autumn and Winter better than Summer or Spring! S_R_C

I’m slowly working my way throught the Blogs and am finding them very interesting and helping me brush up my Japanese. Thanks Miki and keep them coming.
By the way, the plurals of daughter-in-law and mother-in-law are daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law.
