Mina-san, obviously Natsumi-san is in hurry to get to Fabrizio’s party. It’s sure to be a wild one!!

うわ。。。私は第一人です。楽しいですね。 Please correct me if I am wrong.

This lesson is a great revision for me. I love it. Thanks Jpod101.

I wanna go to Fabrizio’s birthday party!
I bet it’s fabulous!

avatar João Paulo says:

Fabrizio is throwing a party??? It must be a really expensive one.

One thing I like about Newbie lessons is that even though they cover the basics of Jap, there’s always some new (and sometimes difficult) vocabulary.

最近、渋滞はよくあるんですよね!

I believe most people are used to traffic jams, therefore this word becomes essential, too. Thanks again, JPOD! :nihon:

João Pauloさん、
hahahahahahahaha! i was just thinking the same thing!

kitty-chanさん、
i wonder if everyone has umbrellas at his party….

avatar João Paulo says:

Hey, Marky-san…

Maybe it’s an umbrella party after all

avatar Rhys says:

I really love these newbie and beginner lessons!
thanks jpod, and keep up the good work!

avatar Scott Curry says:

Can 渋滞 be used for people as well? Such as, getting stuck in a crowd of people, a human traffic jam?

avatar Mayumi says:

watermenさん、

うわ is a great expression! You can express your surprise to know that you are the first person to post comments.
It would be better if you change 第一人 to 一人目(hitori-me), which means the first person. 目(me) is used after a number and a counter to indicate the ordinal number.

avatar watermen says:

まゆみさん、ありがとうございます。 I learn something new again. This is the great thing about Jpod101. :nihon:

avatar watermen says:

Scott Curry さん、

Ha…I will invent a term for human traffic jam…人雑踏(にんざっとう)…

avatar デボン says:

I think that you would use こんでいる(込んでいる)for people.
渋谷はとても込んでいますね!

正しいですか?

avatar Yuki says:

Scott Curry-san,
yeah 渋滞 can be used for people,
this phrase reminds me people queuing up really long. And the line doesn’t move.

デボンさん
混んでいる can be used as well. but this phrase has nuance of certain place is packed by tons of people. Some of them walk around or line up…

わかります?

avatar markystar says:

i like switching 状態 (じょうたい) from 昏睡状態 (こんすいじょうたい) with 渋滞 (じゅうたい) to make 昏睡渋滞 (こんすいじゅうたい)

avatar Yuki says:

markystar

haha, sounds dangerous!
sounds like all car drivers are hitting each other cuz they are in coma. that’s one reason traffic jam is caused…あぶねー :hachimaki:

avatar markystar says:

あぶねーだろ?
