Sometimes in front of my supermarket there are people that collects goods for the poor, and I’ve heard that some supermarkets give the goods that are about to be thrown away to the poor as well.
By the way I was not able to understand the meaning of some words, even by reading the PDF. You should really think of adding Furigana or at least align conversation lines. Searching the right word (pronunciation + meaning) really takes me a lot time. 
With furigana and line alignment, this lesson would be perfect.

Some lessons like that and we can read the Keizai Shinbun!
Although Japan Times seems to be a little easier for a while

Really nice lesson.
I never heard about food bank here, but I believe it is an excellent idea!! This lesson was very useful, not only for the Japanese, but also because of this very important social issue topic!!

We have something like a food bank system here in Germany - called “Die Tafeln” http://www.tafel.de/ - homepage is only in German, sorry. They have about 32.000 volunteers which are collecting food from supermarkets, restaurants, … and give this to people, which really need it.

Maybe you need an ‘advanced’ section for this type of lesson. Difficulty spikes like this can be a little off putting… Too many new words by far for me!

For those who may be wondering, food banking does exist in Japan. Check out www.2hj.org for more information on the nation’s first food bank, Second Harvest Japan. I happen to volunteer there and was pleased to see a lesson about this.
