Mina-san, when was the last time you wrote a love letter? Did you write it by hand or type it up in MS Word? Or did you just copy and paste it from some free love letter database online?

Is there really a free love letter database online? 教えてください!

Ah, actually yes! I found some love letter websites which are about “how to write a love letter”, “three sentences love letter” etc etc…. hit “ラブレター” in Google!

Let’s find 最高な人!
オヤジギャグですか。。。。?
だけど、僕もそう思います。最高じゃないとだめです!psychoだと、めちゃめちゃ困りますね。。。

Yeah, seems like there is no joke in here… but its pretty funny to see that both girls have totally different characters.

Sites about free love letters was new for me.
I used to have some pen pal friends in my high school time, but I rarely write letters nowadays.
The interesting is that a friend of mine moved to another city and as she didn’t have a computer at the time, she wrote me a letter.
That was such a nice surprise when I came home and found a written letter for me. In that case, I decided to do the same and sent her a letter through the post office. It may have been a bit old fashioned, but really nice…

Yuki san. OK, so you have my age pegged. I couldn’t resist the weak attempt at a joke.

俺は手紙全然書かない。コンピュータで書く意外、何も書けない。実はペンを使えられなくなって来たかも知れない。
Now that we have computers to type, Chinese speakers are losing their (pen) writing abilities. People get so used to typing something and having the hanzi (kanji) come up automatically, which means that they lose the ability to write (with a pen). I say good riddance actually, computers are more convenient! The only problem is that most exams are done on paper, so being able to write Kanji/Hanzi with a pen is still necessary if only for that reason.
A strange place to be in though: a skill which isn’t used in the modern computer world is essential for completing exams. I thought exams were meant to measure your ability, not require you to learn completely new ones.

JP101 Crew/Listeners!
When I was in Mexico City I wrote letters by hand, Now I use the PC because I have a very bad handwriting and I feel ashame of my writing.
Now I’m improving my handwriting because its been said that your handwriting tells your personality so it has to be good.
I agree with both Miki-san and Ushijima-san, I prefer both online/offline love letters!!

In the dialogue of this lesson one of the girls says:
うれしいじゃない。
Shouldn´t it be
うれしくない。
???
ureshii is a i-adjective, no?
Monday at 3:37 pm
In informal conversation, when you throw じゃない on the end of a sentence with the intonation of a question (like in this dialogue), it makes it kind of rhetorical statement, emphasizing instead of questioning. E.G. いいじゃない! (isn’t it OK? [implied: of course it is!])
