Learn Japanese at JapanesePod101.com! It’s Monday again, so that means it’s time to return to the Nihongo Dōjō with Naomi Sensei. In today’s lesson Fabrizio is comparing his expensive, Italian-made designer umbrella with Minami’s pathetic cheap-o model from the 100 Yen Shop. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and be sure to leave us a post!

Mina-san, Fabrizio is back!! But poor Minami…. I wonder if her feelings are hurt.
hahahaha, he’s pretty popular!
hope everyone had a good weekend!! ![]()
now i’t back to the 勉強!
この会話はとても面白い。
Very funny lesson.
なおみ先生のPDFはすごいです!
Btw, I believe the Kanji for ” kasa” really looks like an umbrella!!!
I love the comedy aspects of these shows. They really help to keep it light hearted and interesting, and in my opinion, serve to better fix the dialogues and lessons as a whole in your memory.
The kanji really does look like an umbrella. Now I’ll always remember it!
Thanks João!
I agree with Maxwell, I can really remember things when the dialog is entertaining!
the_gaped_crusader-san, thanks for the feedback!
We also feel that interesting stories increase retention!
So we’ll keep them coming!
Scott-san, thanks for the feedback! We’ll try to keep those mnemonics coming.
Maxwell-san mo, thanks for the feedback! We’ll be sure to keep the humor, or at least what we feel humor is, coming!
Thanks for appreciating it.
Joãoさん、賛成「せんせい」です!直美先生のPDFは本当にすばらしいです!
Kitty-chan, Fabrizio は最高「さいこう」です!
I agree with the above comments about the comedy. They must stay. They keep everything interesting.
Now, was it just me, or did Fabrizio sound a little different today? I like how you can tell that he is definitely NOT frugal. (from this, and the previous lessons.) Perhaps a lesson on where he gets all his money would be good. What does this charecter do for a living, anyway?
Christopherさん、
Check the first lesson Newbie Lesson #31 - Nihongo Dōjō - Welcome to Style You 1, there are character introductions, I think Fabrizio is a fashion coordinator, whatever that is it must bring a nice pay in
Scott-さん
waw… I was really happy to know that somehow the comment about 傘 helped you. That was really nice to know!!! ありがとう!
Sophieさん is right!
Fabrizio is a Fashion Coordinator.
I found a job description here:

Thanks Marky and Sophie. I’ve been so busy, I forgot about that bit in lesson 1.
Another video!

I’ve tried to use the の particle to show the origin of various things I’ve got.
I’m sure everyone else has things that they have accumulated from their travels, why not make a video showing them to us? Be sure to use the particle の to describe where they are from!
Does anyone know how to ask, “do you want to be my friend” in japanese?
bakanekoさん、
something like this? 友達になりましょうか!
like, “let’s be friends!”

Hello everyone, thanks for the comment.
I saw your videos! They were great!!
Now, 私のコンピューターはIBMのです。(I have IBM computer ) But I am thinking about getting a new one. I don’t know what to buy… デルのコンピューター?,ソニーのコンピューター?、TOSHIBAのコンピューター?
みなさんのコンピューターはどこのコンピューターですか。
What kind of computer do you have? Do you have any recommendation?
Naomi-Sensei,
携帯 の ビデオのコメントありがとう。
(I wanted to say “Thanks for your comments about our videos”)
私のコンピューターはMACです。とてもべんりです。
(My computer is a Mac. It’s very convenient.)
I also recommend a Mac!!
watashi no pasokon mo “mac” desu. kore wa daisuki desu.

Naomi先生、
Macが好き!このパソコンは楽しい当てに出来るですよ。だから,非常に高い。
そして、日本語と韓国語も出来ますよ!とても簡単です!
スカット
Naomi-san!
I don’t recommend a Mac because it’s a evil tool!
Your fine with your Toshiba PC and don’t get fool so easy. You still can save yourself from the tentation before the end.
Mina-san!
About Fabrizio is he from el padrino
“God Father”

Oh, that opening was great. “this wo buy shitain desu kedo”
What is this bit though? “tegara matakette” It sounds so familiar but I can’t remember what it means or find it in the dictionary. Something about offering something up? Or stopping. lol
Thanks so much for covering pitch accent too. I’d been trying to learn it by myself, but my ear still can’t always pick it up correctly.
Lauraさん、we call that character バカな野蛮人 (or as i like to call him our baka barbarian). i think he may be a recurring character!
and i’m with you on the pitch accent.
when i started learning japanese, everyone said to me ‘japanese is a flat language. there is no stress and no pitch.’ well, anyone with an ear knows that’s not true.
we’re really excited about the pitch accent focus.
so i’m happy to hear you are too!! ![]()
woot woot!

I don’t know what those “japanese is flat” people are listening to. =/
And I totally misparsed that store guy’s line. My Japanese friend says it’s:
japanesepod101 ni ittekara mata kite kudasai
not
japanesepod101 ni tegara matakette kudasai
