Just one question about the transcript: at the third line, it is written : ７冊お貸りになってますね in kanji, and ７さつおかりになってますね。
My computer does not like to write おかりに as お貸りに　but insists to spell it お借りに instead.
Is not かりる (to borrow) normally written as 借りる, not 貸りる ?
Did I get something wrong?

Thanks,

Jean-Michel

I was wondering about "desho" and "daro". I'm a little rusty with my nihongo, but can't you use desho in place of daro? Isn't it just a little more formal? Ofcourse I am referring to using it in the context of when you want to say that you think something is some way or will be some way.

Also, I'd appreciate it if someone could refer me to a website that has a free download of Japanese so that I don't have to you romaji!
Thanks!

Laura

*maxiewawa hi fives Bakanekoさん for correct use of today's grammar point*

Shounan is a long way from Shinjuku prefecture'と言ったけど、なぜ新宿の図書館にいると知っていましたか?

How did サチコ-sensei know they were in Shinjuku?
How could he borrow more than 7 books?

Today's intro was a little short, so here's something else for everyone to mull over, and someone to correct for me.
This is the dialogue between 夏子先生 and サチコ先生　（幸子先生？） It starts at 1:00.

Exactly. So today's dialogue is...

Something you take from somewhere, then put somewhere else? Or something you take away in preparation for something else?

Hey, this didn't make sense to me. He had the book ready to check out, but it turned out he already had 7 books out, which is the max. So they said they'd order it in from another branch? Does that mean it's ok to have more than 7 as long as they've not all from the same branch? What a generous library =) It's like they're guiding him through their loophole!

I was thinking "procure" might work as an english version of おとりよせ.
