Learn Japanese at JapanesePod101.com! Today we have a conversation between a student and librarian. The student already has a bunch of books out on loan and has to use the interlibrary loan to get the book he wants. Our grammar point is focusing on probability using moshikashitara and kamo shirenai. After listening, stop by JapanesePod101.com and be sure to leave us a post!

Mina-san, when was the last time you went to the library? Did they have what you needed or did they have to send you one from the Shonan branch?

JP101 crew/listeners!
Great lesson!
The last time I went to the library
they never have worth books to read instead they always have books that have bad information printed for the masses like the one about Cuba life/people and everything written there was a JP101 crew/listeners!
was three months ago and it was so-so!
Great lesson! The last time I went to the library lie.
*Don’t trust library books*
But lets mention also the good things happen on the library like finding your other half here is a video from Tears and Fears “Head over Heels” I love this song!

bakaneko-san, Sindy-san
You can’t even imagine that….
yeah, why don’t you come visit to Japan right now?
You’d be dead because it’s soooooooo hot here in Japan!!!
Friday at 4:00 pm
Yuki is right.
It’s unbearably hot right now in Tokyo!!!!
The library would be a nice place to cool off under the a/c!

Hey, this didn’t make sense to me. He had the book ready to check out, but it turned out he already had 7 books out, which is the max. So they said they’d order it in from another branch? Does that mean it’s ok to have more than 7 as long as they’ve not all from the same branch? What a generous library =) It’s like they’re guiding him through their loophole!
I was thinking “procure” might work as an english version of おとりよせ.

Laura
*maxiewawa hi fives Bakanekoさん for correct use of today’s grammar point*
Shounan is a long way from Shinjuku prefecture’と言ったけど、なぜ新宿の図書館にいると知っていましたか?
How did サチコ-sensei know they were in Shinjuku?
How could he borrow more than 7 books?
Today’s intro was a little short, so here’s something else for everyone to mull over, and someone to correct for me.
This is the dialogue between 夏子先生 and サチコ先生 (幸子先生?) It starts at 1:00.
Exactly. So today’s dialogue is…
Something you take from somewhere, then put somewhere else? Or something you take away in preparation for something else?

I was wondering about “desho” and “daro”. I’m a little rusty with my nihongo, but can’t you use desho in place of daro? Isn’t it just a little more formal? Ofcourse I am referring to using it in the context of when you want to say that you think something is some way or will be some way.
Also, I’d appreciate it if someone could refer me to a website that has a free download of Japanese so that I don’t have to you romaji!
Thanks!

Just one question about the transcript: at the third line, it is written : 7冊お貸りになってますね in kanji, and 7さつおかりになってますね。
My computer does not like to write おかりに as お貸りに but insists to spell it お借りに instead.
Is not かりる (to borrow) normally written as 借りる, not 貸りる ?
Did I get something wrong?
Thanks,
Jean-Michel
