The tooth accidentally got thrown away, and she was so sad that the tooth fairy wouldn't visit her that one of the attendants gave her a shark's tooth as a replacement. Then she didn't want to put it under her pillow, because she'd rather have the shark's tooth than the dollar. I'd never heard about the 屋根 and 縁の下 tradition. Thanks for a fun blog, 美樹先生.
