Not too long ago, I ran across 押忍 (osu) used instead of お早う御座います (ohayou gozaimasu). Is this another way to say “good morning” among friends?
Friday at 1:34 pm
おっす is a casual greeting (usually for guys) at any time of the day. but only use this with friends. it’s very casual.
Friday at 10:12 pm
My Japanese teacher told us he sometimes joked with close japanese friends on Sunday, saying お遅い御座います to greet them in the morning, underlining the fact that they have been sleeping in.
Saturday at 11:06 pm
ハートクリストファーです。アメリカ人です。テクスッポトです。
Is there a better way to put that last sentance?
Tuesday at 11:21 am
Sophieさん
As your Japanese teacher mentioned, some people say 「お遅うございます/oosou gozaimasu」or 「おそようございます/osoyougozaimasu.」as a joke.

Friday at 2:10 pm
how do you say I’m sorry I’m late in Japanese??? please help thx!
Friday at 2:14 pm
because sometimes i walk into class late and ill i know to say is すみません。 got any advice for saying something like sorry that I’m late or something???
Friday at 2:20 pm
does おそく mean late? and if it does how can i make that into a sentence?
Friday at 3:00 pm
遅く is the adverbial form of 遅い, it means “slow” or “late.”
but in Japanese “to be late” is it’s own verb. 遅れる.
so i’d recommend saying 遅れてすみません “i’m sorry for being late.”
お待たせしました is “I’m sorry for making you wait.”
Tuesday at 5:41 pm
I don’t understand. Where do I begin? i started with Lesson # 1 and so forth and now there is another lesson where I was supposed to start with.

Andrew, this is Season 2 of Welcome To Style You. I think they’re starting all over again in this series.

Thanks Maxie,
Its just confusing how the stuff are arranged in my ipod, not in order and sometimes the titles are different!
Saturday at 10:35 am
Peter-San mentioned that Kim used the Japanese way to address herself. Actually it’s kind of the East Asian way. Chinese, Japanese and Korean all use this ‘Family name - Given name’ structure.

Kon’nichiwa Mina-san!
I have a question about the video vocab to this lesson. When the kanji are on the screen, sometimes there are little kanas written above some of the kanji letters. I’m not sure what that means. I don’t read or write japanese scripts yet so I’m a little confused. Thank so much for the help and thanks for Japanese Pod 101! It’s a great website!
Ja Ne! Denice
Wednesday at 9:07 am
Deniceさん,
Those kana characters are there to tell you how the kanji is read. Usually you learn kana first, and then kanji - and the kana are there to help those who haven’t learned kanji yet to read the characters
Thursday at 1:50 am
Jesse,
Thanks very much for your answer to my question. Now all I have to do is learn to read Kana!
Thanks again!

Have a good day

Good lesson! Everything is fine until I see the kanji characters. I want to know if there is a way to get all of this in my head. I know all of the kana, but the kanji is not that easy to master!
Any suggestions?

Hi there !
I started out with the newbie season 1, but was curious and listened to season 2 anyways… good for me, those lessons are way better than season 1
Naomi-sensei rules !
As for my Japanese, it is still pretty crappy, but I’m working on it :p I don’t know if the formulation I tried above is correct, but basically I would like to know how to say and write Belgium in katakana and tried to put that in a sentence with the very little I know ^^
Thanks for everything
