Mina-san, this phrase is a life-saver when the keigo is coming at you light speed. も一度ゆっくりお願いします。 Mo ichido yukkuri onegai shimasu. 簡単な日本語でお願いします。 Kantan na Nihongo de onegai shimasu. These are are your linguistic Swiss Army Knives! Of course, I’m a little partial to Johnny’s last phrase: なるほど。はい。通訳者お願いします。 Naruhodo. Hai. Tsuyakusha onegai shimasu.

Unfortunately today I am having to use a PC for the lesson but the PDF for the lesson notes is refusing to download. Is it me on the system, otherwise it is a great lesson.

So in japanese how do you say, “Please drop the formality and speak to me as if to a child”?

These are Survival Phrases that really seem to be very advanced! I bet many advanced Japanese speaker would fine something new to learn in these lessons.
Great dialog as always. Poor Johnny, he was going so fine with his Japanese, it was a pity he had to turn to an interpreter this time.
Anyway, like Peter said… がんばってね!
