Mina-san, Do you have any similar set phrases when writing postcards or letters in your country? Yoroshiku onegai shimasu!

Nothing like your daily dose of JPOD to start your day! (well, it is 10:30 am here in England!)
On a JLPT related note, does anyone here know the どうし forms for 2 Kyuu?

It is true, nothings better for start the morning work!
To tell the true, the postcards are rarely use in Argentina, I thinks what is a shame, receive a postcard is always nice!

Matthew,
Not sure what you mean by the verb forms for 2kyu, but you’d probably get more response if you post your question in the forums.
JLPT2kyu is more about grammar patterns, than verb forms.
There’s definitely keigo, passive, causative, etc but it’s all embedded into more complex grammar points, so the verb forms alone aren’t anywhere near enough,

No comments on the content? This is a very sad story! This illustrates traditional Japanese culture so well! What is not said shouts more loudly than what is said.
By the way, Natsuko-san . . . here is a tiny English lesson in return for all the fine Japanese lessons you have given us.
“I am expecting”. Actually, “expect” is normally a transitive verb that requires a direct object. Omitting the direct object turns it into an elliptical phrase, with the missing word understood to be “a baby”. Obviously, given the context in which you said this, that was not your meaning. (You haven’t suddenly taken up knitting, have you?)

Interesting lesson. In England too, we are known for constantly talking about the weather. It is very common to start a casual conversation, a (personal) letter or a postcard with something about the weather. Emails too I guess.
It is strange though, because England also has one of the most boring weather systems in the world. Nothing every really happens, most days are slightly overcast, with a mild temperature, neither hot nor cold.
Anyway, there is one difference though - I would never dream of opening a business letter with something about the weather. This seems pretty odd to me. The closest I ever come to something like that is “I hope you enjoyed the Christmas break”. Not really about the weather but seasonal at least.

Don’t know about that we have a pretty changeable weather system. It’s sometimes mildly overcast.

hello
I really enjoy the lessons….. I keep listening to them in the subway or behind my car. Many thanks for the great job, and really useful audio and texts.
Could we have the examples of seasons blooming greetings that was exposed in this lesson : both hiragana and kanji…that would be great….
Merci beaucoup !

Can someone tell me why in
奥様がうらやましいですよ
it wouldn’t mean that the wife is envious instead of 佐々木 being envious? You would think that for the translation given they would have used に instead of が.
Thanks.
