In Beginner 153, かい　is used to make questions, and 夏子さんとピーターさん said it sounds rather “macho”. Is it any kinda interrogative particle used by males???

But then I checked in the dictionary and found that this means 'inedible'. So rather than saying 'I think I'm not able to eat crab', it probably came out as 'I think crab is inedible'.
