The download link is to another lesson, it would seem. It currently goes to "HolidaySpecial07.mp3", which file is not marked as an intermediate lesson, nor is it track 40.

Tachikoma-san,
I agree Mukashibanashi is really hard. So, please enjoy the stories as a fun lesson and as a cultural lesson, rather than as a language lessons.:nihon:

Tachikoma-san
I agree that Mukashibanashi lessons are very hard to understand, especially only by listening, because it's written Japanaese. So, please take them as a fun lesson and enjoy and get to know about Japanese folk stories! :nihon:

Are the mukashibanashi lessons part of the curriculum and so should be fully understood before moving on? I ask because I find the difficulty spike with these lessons, compared to say, the My Tokyo Travelogue lessons to be enormous.

Added to that is that these lessons are not explained in any way afterwards, other than manually going through the transcript trying to figure it out.

When I first listened to these lessons when they were initially released they were way, way over my head, but I was just about able to work my way through the other intemediate lessons. Now returning to them I find they are still way, way over my head, but at least the travelogue lessons I can 95% understand.

Sorry to waffle on, but I'm just wondering if I should continue struggling with these super hard lessons before moving on.

Great Story, I love it! Keep it up specially the english translation from Peter-san!

i think the Jpod gang is on holiday. so, i believe this was most likely pre-recorded, so we won't get the transcripts and line=by-line until they get back. They deserve a nice long respite, neh?

i was fun to attempt to understand the bits & bobs that I can, and I am using this time to attempt to catch up as much as possible. too hard. T___T

i really enjoyed hearing a fairy tale though, something more to add to this incredible site! ^____^

I enjoyed the first part of the drama. It will be fun to see how it turns out.

Sorry for continuously, shamelessly plugging my own site, but I think some people may enjoy the cross-references. That said, in the photos from NY day on my site, there is a photo of a statue of a 天狗 (てんぐ) there.

Also, in my latest post, I talk about our おせち料理 dinner at my in-laws, and on the NY Day photo page I added pics from dinner and a photo of a こたつ, which some of you may remember described the other day.

Hi there,

There is certainly nothing wrong with taking a break at all. They sure deserve it. In fact, everyone does!

Nothing wrong with reviewing past lessons either - as I said I have been here since day 1 so I have been reviewing for a long time now. I did not even mean the free podcasts themselves; these are great and always have been- I am talking about the premium content in the learning center. And as I will not be re-newing my subscription I was simply trying to make the best of it for the last few days.

Not to worry ... there are more important things in life!!!

Anyways, best of luck with your studies everyone and keep up the good work.

皆さん,

明けましておめでとうございます

In response to the above comments, I think that the Japanesepod101.com staff should enjoy a well earned break! I think that prerecording these holiday specials was a fantastic idea, I've learned a lot from them. I think that one of the best things about Japanesepod101.com is that you're learning modern Japanese culture and the language in context at the same time!

If you need Japanese lessons over the holidays, then you could go back and and review the hundreds of previous episodes!

Look forward to listening to more episodes!

みなさん

It's nice to see so many people interested in learning Japanese, but JP101 team also deserves some vacation, don't you think?

Like Liz-san said, there is so much material to study in here and we've received so much from JP101, I believe it's time to thank instead of just asking for more.

Besides, this website is so full of nice people willing to help each other learning. I also intend to use this vacation break to spice up my Japanese, so I'll be going back and review important things.

I also miss the new episodes, but at least there is new material being published every day.

JP101, 有り難うございます！

みなさん、がんばって！
