あけおめ!ことよろ!
I’m repeating myself, but just in case anyone didn’t read that yesterday.
I am currently posting a new entry on my personal blog. My wife & I went to try and catch the sunrise at 高尾山 (Mt Takao), but failed to get there in time.
We had a good time though and took lots of photos. I included lots of links to articles in both English & Japanese on wikipedia, so please check it out to learn more about NY Day in Japan and shrines. I have photos of 天狗 (tengu), 手水舎 (chōzuya), 神社 (jinja) and more.
You can read this by clicking on my name above. And if you haven’t checked out the photos of the JP staff in the office and in the studio, check out my photo page as well.
Luluちゃん、
こちらこそよろしくお願いします!
As for your greeing, the correct writing is 明けましておめでとう。Notice the kanji and that the final t is a soft sound (no ちさい tsu - っ) and is followed with an elogated vowel. I hope this helps.
みなさん、明けましておめでとうございます。
:)
One of my New Year’s resolutions is to post comments everyday on this wonderful site

i just wanted to jump ahead n’ say hello ~
i’m still catchin’ up ~ n’ i hope i can catch up within this week ~
so nice ta meet all of you ~
i love this supportive community ~~~
p.S. i got it wrong twice ~
it’s あけましておめでとうございます ~
i never seem ta get that right hehe ~
thanks Daniel san ~
Bonne année from Grenoble, France!
I was wondering …
Very often the 年賀状 (new year’s cards) in Japan have the
あけましておめでとうございます written in Hiragana only. Thus the Kanji is not really fixed. Isn’t there a connotation of 開ける besides the 明ける (probably not 空ける)?
What do you think?
今年もよろしくお願いします。
Cheers 森津
I can’t seem to get the line-by-line transcript audio files to work. Is anyone else having playback problems?
yeah, that’s strange. not sure what the glitch is. today (monday) is a national holiday, so we’re not in the office. but i’ll look into it first thing tomorrow morning!
sorry for the inconvenience!
I only wish that I had found this much, much sooner. This is THE best podcast for learning Japanese. I have actually been studying using other ways, but in this podcast, I learn more, even in the beginner lessons, because this teaches you so much more than just the plain words. But, where are Newbie lessons 2, 3, and 4?
Oops, never mind. Although, I could not find lesson number 6. どもすみません!
Shaunte-san,
I believe there was a mistake in the episode numbering of this newbie series so there actually is no episode 6. What should’ve been labelled lesson 6 is actually lesson 7. Sorry for the inconvenience!
