I’m sorry I can’t also hear the difference beetween Miki and Miki. Sakura-san, gomen nasai!
And yet for the word “Erlkären” pronunciation, I do hear the difference

Re: the “Save Peter” campaign 
Peter, I think you said “Mickey”, like “Mickey Mouse”. No, it’s “mee-kee”, ne?
It reminds me of the time we tried to teach a visitor from Japan how to say “McDonalds”. I finally said: “Say Mick Jagger!” Voila — the American vowel sound emerged!
The next week looks like fun. So glad you are getting a vacation, finally!

It’s the Save Peter Campaign™. The trademark symbol is required. But, actually, it refers to our attempts to correct Peterさん’s English. His Japanese pronunciation is a different project.
You’re right though. Like Sakuraさん said, he makes a hard k sound, ミッキ as opposed to ミキ。 But, I wouln’t write it as meekee, because it looks like the vowels are elongated, when they are not. This is the weakness of using romaji to represent Japanese sounds.
Sakuraさん was rather fiesty today. 
She really put Peterさん in his place. Especially when he called Takeさん Take.

Thanks for the correction about the ™. I know you own that slogan. But, really, I am concentrating on the vowel sound “i”, not the “k” sound. I find it interesting that there is no short “i” sound in Japanese, so we English speakers have to remember that and alway use a long “i”, right?

I agree with Liz-san that the problem was the “i” not the “k”. He was saying “Meki”/”Mickey” instead of “Miki”, which is why she got him to say “week-i” to get the correct “i”. It still sounds much the same to me though.

Um, if you go back and listen, Sakuraさん says “soft k” to Peterさん。Maybe he needs to work on both!

Around the 6:20 mark, she says “weak ki”, which seems to me that she’s saying that Peterさん is adding a ちさい「っ」 in there.

I still think Sakura san is referring to the vowel sound “i” in Miki’s name. I heard Peter say, “Mickey”, not “Miki”
