An interesting lesson. Is it difficult or easy to get a credit card in Japan. When I working in the US for a couple of years, it wasn’t easy as I had no past (US) credit history.

I noticed that はらい became ばらい in this conversation. This kind of consenant voicing change happens when a sound repeats in a compound word (e.g. さんぜん rather than さんせん), but I didn’t understand why it happened here. Has ばらい become part of the counter?

On a similar vein, although a bit off topic for this lesson, I keep forgetting when なに becomes なん. This happens before ‘da’ or ‘desu’, but are there any other rules? It’s certainly なに when marked with the indirect object particle を.

Interesting information. I am wondering if it matters where the credit card is issued from (country-wise), as that is the place where you will get your bill, as the credit agreement belongs to the issuing location.
