There are lots of ways to reduce our IMPACT on the environment and its difficult to even connect or see the connection when we live in such crowded spaces.
Are there facilities for recycling Cans , Bottles, Plastic PET containers or does it all get burned and up in smoke?? And what about paper…We recycle all of these in Sydney

-Japan is notorious for over packaging consumer items and I realise its all pretty and cute and cultural, however there needs to be a quantam shift in awareness and attitudes.

-Cross ventilation - do you really need to have those air conditioners running up the power bill all day and night… open the windows..

-Water probably isnt a great issue in Japan as it is in Australia, but hey, take a short shower or dont fill the ofuro up to the top. Its easy to use up over 100 litres of water in a 7 minute shower.

-Are there energy efficient light bulbs available?, or are they still all incandescent?

-If you have a garden, use your vegetable waste to make a compost heap and feed the soil with the delicious results. Worm farms??

-Turn off the lights if you arent in that room..

-fix dripping taps

-take all your appliances off standby as they use up a lot of electricity when counted together

-a lot of paper in Japan is made from Old growth timber forests in Tasmania, Australia. The same goes for throw away Hashi!!

-Stop eating Taiji Dolphin meat packaged as Whale and whale meat which is Illegally fished from the Southern oceans..

私なりにNecoleっさんの言いたいことを考えてみたのですが、簡単に言うと「日本にはあまり環境を守るために活動しているグループが無いように思う。リサイクル以外で何か行っているグループがあれば教えてほしい。」ということでしょうか？

もしそうであれば、以下が答えになります。
Necoleさんの知っている国と比べて、日本がどれくらい環境を考えた活動をしているのかはわかりませんが、日本でもいろんな活動をしているグループがあります。
例えば、
・ゴミ拾い
・廃油をエネルギーとしてバスを動かす(バイオディーゼル燃料)
・放置自転車を直してしてレンタルをする
・fair-tradeを積極的にしている団体もあります。（これも地球を守ることにつながっていくことです。）
etc…

国全体ではco2を減らすためにチーム・マイナス６％という運動があります。

しかしこのような団体はまだ少ないです。もっとこのような団体が増えていって多くの人が協力するようになればいいのですが

Necoleさんの国で行われていることで、いいアイディアがあれば教えてください♪

katakanadianさんは日本に来た事があるのでしょうか？とても日本のことについて詳しいですね 日本にはたくさんの環境にやさしいシステムはありますが、その一方で無関心な人もたくさんいるのも事実です。
idlingの問題も浪費（waste）の問題も悲しいですが事実です。本当にばかげていると思います
確かに夏や冬ならまだわかりますが、自然の風が気持ちいい季節にidlingをするというのは本当におかしい！！！

今回のコンサートで使われたエネルギーはすべて自然エネルギーを使いました。’my hashi’を持ってくる人もたくさんいたし、飲み物に使ったカップはすべてreuseです。このようなイベントに参加することによって、今まで無関心にidlingをしていた人たちが環境について考えるきっかけになればいいと思います。

‘my hashi’のアイディアはとてもいいと思います わたしは’my fork’を持ち歩いています

So all Europeans should think twice before eating sushi very often… and Japanese people also, as most of the tuna is still sent to Japan. We are all connected.

Recycling is a very good first step, I guess everyone does it, isn’t it , but building objects with less material and packaging less is better, and decreasing consumption maybe even much better.

Unfortunately Japanese society has some very bad habits which cancel out a great deal of good habits. One of the worst is the way people leave their car engines idling for no good reason. Last year made an informal survey in dozens of parking lots including michinoeki and consistently found that between 25 and 40% of all cars were idling at anytime. Many people would park with their engines idling all night long. Not only is this terrible for the environment but it’s bad for the person sleeping inside because their car becomes surrounded by a cloud of concentrated pollution. I might be more understanding if this was in winter or summer but this was in early fall when the nighttime temperatures are very comfortable. 本当にばかばかしい！

Another big problem is the amount of e-waste generated by people throwing away perfectly workable cellphones/computers/music players/TVs just so they can have the latest toys. E-waste contains high levels of toxic substances which require special handling but all too frequently they get thrown into general non-burnable trash.

Environmental responsibility goes far beyond separating trash. #1 we have to reduce our consumption of ’stuff’ and energy. #2 we have to reuse what we have effectively until it is impossible to reuse anymore (e.g. carry ‘my hashi’ and refuse waruibashi (deliberate typo)). #3 (i.e. least effective but still important) is to recycle.

ま、いいんじゃありませんか。ここでの楽しい競走なんですよ。負けたら、盛り上がって、「くっそぉぉ！負けたか？こんどこそぉぉ！！！」とか叫べます。結構楽しい勝負です。

こんにちは、美樹です☆皆さんお元気ですか？
私は今日、病院に行ってきました。手と足に赤い腫れがいっぱいできてしまったからです。診察してもらったら、蕁麻疹と言われました。注射を打ってもらって薬を飲んだらよくなったけど、まだ少しかゆいです。
健康が一番です！みなさんも体に気をつけて下さいね。

さて、この写真は７月に静岡で行われた野外音楽イベントの写真です。日本を代表するアーティストがたくさん歌を歌いました。私は、大好きなアーティストが３日間出演したので、３日間全部参加しました！暑かったり、雨が降ったり大変でしたが最高のイベントでした☆
静岡は東京と違って自然がたくさんあります。自然の中で音楽を聞くのはとても気持ちがいいものですね！このようなすてきな自然を未来にも残したいですね。
このイベントはただ音楽を楽しむだけではなく、環境問題を考えようというイベントでもありました。私も地球のためにできることから始めてみようと思います。例えばゴミを分別したり、クーラーの温度を下げすぎないとか。小さい事でもできることはいっぱいあると思うんです。
