Today I was at “sun ai” the japanese bookstore in Stockholm, Sweden. Wow, there was a lot of books… The pocketbooks are tiny. At least I bought a dictionary and it will really come in handy.

Sorry, in the previous message I should have wrote ‘暑中お見舞’. I should have checked my kanji more closely.

Please indulge the further nitpicking, but in the lesson you correctly have it as shochuu miMAI, but you have it written as ‘暑中見舞い’ but I think the ‘い’　at the end is extraneous. I consulted the kokugo jiten on this one.

Also, I notice in writing the prefix ‘o’ is always used, and follow by moushi agemasu, almost like a set pattern.

Thank you for helping me with that sentence. I was trying to say, “Chigusa-san lived in Canada”, as an explanation for why her English is so good.

Oh, now I understood that the sentence was with the -te iru. Liz you were right in your sentence. I am so sorry. The only thing I think is wrong is the e-particle. It should be “ni” no?

Finally I met couple people from jppod.

sean-san: I have a card from a company, and on it, it is written out as 暑中お見舞い(申し上げます), and I think this is the most common way to spell it out, though according to my electronic dictionary, dropping all hiragana characters are also acceptable but not common. Just dropping the o but keeping the i seems not uncommon either.

Daijirin lists the ‘i’ as entirely optional, rather than standard. The Koujien gives categorically that the preffered sage is ‘i’. I’m inclined to accept its verdict over a card company.

Of course. it’s not at all a major issue of comprehension really: you’ll be perfectly understood no matter what you choose, but I think it’s wrong to imply that the authorities on the language, whatever legitimacy they may or may not hold, have given their opinion.

At least they corrected the romaji spelling in the header (you’re welcome, btw . . .)

i just want to ask for a clarification of the word “shochumiai” as i read it on the paragraph above and the way i heard it on the discussion was “shochumimai” just kind of confused here help

hi, it seems like the answers for the Content Questions in the Learning Center for this lesson seem to have been accidentally linked from another lesson or something. Because after i answered the 3 questions and hit the “check answers” button, instead of getting the same questions with the correct answers, I got a completely different set of questions/answers (from another lesson?) and it said that i had “not answered” any of the questions.

anyway, sorry for putting all these complaints etc on here…just want to help in identifying/fixing bugs on the site. if i should use another means of informing Jpod101 about bugs, typos, errors etc, let me know!

and thanks Jpod101 for putting this series about giving & receiving! i think it really helps clear things up. i have been studying Japanese for 3 years and I always thought the hardest part is figuring out all the giving/recieving auxiliary verbs and the accompanying particles. After listening to this series things make a lot more sense. どうもありがとうございます！
