Um….guys….it is my company thing. Eran-san tried to help me out. But, it turns out that it was my company blocking me!!!
Maybe they are jealous that I’m hearing this all day?
Well, at least it’s only my problem. It’s okay.
Ah, I better go back to work before they are blocking this site.
Wednesday at 1:37 am
Yeah!!! I download informal audio. I knew it!! They can’t block this site, right???
If they do, I will be really depress at work, and it will affect my creativities….
Good day!

Vicky-san,
You are so lovable!!
Wednesday at 4:00 am
The new features look great. The grammer bank looks really promising. I also like the overall vocab list. 頑張ってお疲れさま。
@Vicky-san. My lovely company blocks the entire site (and anything else with mp3s), so things could be worse.

Must learn to spell ‘grammar’
Wednesday at 4:35 am
Alan-san / Vicky-san - Sorry to hear about your companies cracking down! Personally, I wouldn’t stand for it
Don’t they know that you are so much more productive after getting your daily dose of our podcast?
Alan-san, I am so glad to hear that you like the new features so far. As we continue the daunting task of populating the Grammar Bank with grammar points from past/future lessons, I truly believe that it will become an extremely useful resource for our premium members. I personally would like to thank David, Jonas, Nathan, and Peter for architecting and implementing this powerful feature, which incidentally is a direct result from feedback received from our community of listeners.
In addition to the Grammar Bank, we also unveiled an All Lesson Vocabulary List and Audio Content Questions. These new premium features are available in the Lesson-Specific area of the Learning Center. To read more on these new enhancements, visit this forum post:

As always, thank you for the incredible feedback and continued support.

Re: the lesson. Considering that it’s a beginner lesson, shouldn’t you explain what Takeさん gives his opinion? It was pretty fast, no?
Lizさん、
I agree. Our Beloved Vickyちゃん (OBV) is lovable!
Eranさん、
Thanks for all the hard work! Ditto to Davidさん、 Jonasさん、 Nathanさん、 Peterちゃん、 and all the others down at JP101. おつかれさま!

Sorry about that, it was a long day
Mina-san,
Keep checking back on the grammar bank… it will be growing very quickly, and will be a great tool!
Wednesday at 8:12 pm
Uh!?
I would not have bothered to comment if I had read Nepal - I know Kathmandu is in Nepal and I certainly would have not read New Zealand when I was EXPECTING Nepal ?

The informal???:
Yesterday’s business drinking group was fun.
Really!! What time did you stay until?
Until about nIne. [I dont know what ‘kana’ is doing.]
Ahhh, that is why [you had fun] [I’m not sure what the ‘ka’ is doing]. Yesterday was awful!!
Yes, what was [awful]?
The president became a drunkard by 9 o’clock.
That’s as far as I’ve got.
Thursday at 1:40 am
Maybe since there are a lot of informal lessons, you should do a lesson on informal particles and small stuff to notice. Like “ka na” being “I wonder…” and “ka” sometimes being used when it’s not a question, but merely making the statement less definite and giving an informal feel. If I’m wrong about these meanings, then it’s because I need a lesson on it!

thanks for the explanation - I sort of guessed the second expression but the first was baffling me although it makes perfect sense now I read it.
My experience with this track is that informal tracks like these are particularly difficult to use for self study because most times the topical expressions are not available on books or dictionary. I don’t have Japanese friends to ask question on everyday speaking.
I am still in to mind whether I benefit from tracks like these - I love the challenge to solve the puzzle - I hate not being able to compare what I deduce with a solution and thus learn from my mistakes- but then perhaps this is what this forum is for.
I am also contrained by lack of time to study which is why I do not have the time to make my own material from news items, and the other plentiful stuff on the net. This is why I often sound frustrated. Sumimasen!

Mikujiさんとkawasakiさん、
有難う御座います for the help with the informal track.
難しいですよ!
I translated it myself and then came here. I didn’t expect there to be anything here, but there was. I am glad that I got it mostly right. I am having a hard time with a few things.
1) How is this prounounced? 酔っ払っ (ていました) Without the PDF, I would never have gotten these characters from the pronunciation.
2) Is this really “spirits”? その後さらに焼酎を二本飲んで My 日本語・英語dictionary says that 焼酎 is a clear liquor distilled from sweet potatoes, rice or buckwheat. My 日本語辞書 seems to indicate that it basically means “alcohol”. Is this a generic term for all types of alcohol or a specific type?
3) 会計後始末, すべて大変でした == Settling the bill was totally awful.
4) I also had much difficulty with the beginning of this sentence:
ああ、早く帰てよかった。 It sounds like はやえけ。 My translation for this is: It was good I left (went home) early. The 漢字 in the PDF has “early” and “return” in it but the pronunciation is all mashed together and 難しい。
宜しくお願いします。

the informal track was way too difficult for beginners.
without Mikuji’s transcription, I wouldn’t have got it

You are indeed correct! I’m not sure how that happened…
Also, you can check the box above the comment box to have follow-up comments e-mailed to you. Is that what you are asking?

Thank you for your reply. I can now find the hyperlink — “Manage your subscriptions” — above the text box, but it took some doing after I accidentally entered the wrong email address. Everything’s fine now!

By the way, there is one Japanese song that I believe fits this lesson very, very well. That song is 紙飛行機 by井上揚水. The words are not too difficult and may be a little stretch for a beginner. Some of the sentimental feelings expressed by the actors are also expressed in the song…. Makes the learning of Japanese all the more fun!!
