Dear JPOD Team!
For example, I had been hearing “Doo iu” in some Japanese language things I have listened to and I wondered what it meant!!
Thanks so much for this lesson!! One of the best ever!!
The vocabulary and the dialogue are just what I need and what I want to know!
Mina-san:
It’s so much fun to hear Yoshi-san trying not to laugh at Shakespeare Takahashi!!
Be sure to listen to the informal track!
Internet friends!! What a topic!
Did you hear about the young man who “fell in love” with a woman and wrote to her about a year? Then they met. She turned out to be 73 years old!! (Ooops, did I give away tomorrow’s plot???)
On the other hand, I have made friends online for the first time on JPOD!! There are two people with whom I correspond regularly now!! Thanks so much! The people who subscribe to JPOD are very interesting and friendly.

Thinking just now back a few lessons ago when some people didn’t know who Shakespeare Takahashi was, it might be a good idea to have a page with a brief summary of who all the characters who’ve appeared in the podcasts are. Maybe have a few voice samples of them, too.
Wednesday at 4:20 am
Sorry folks, just need to post here b4 Vicky does.
Will be back again once I’ve listened.

I didn’t know we are chasing here. I was yesterday’s comments. My friend from Korea left the message for me. How’s nice it that?
I so tired…..can’t type and listen….
Too hot to play tennis outside.
I will come back later. Ah, I have sushi party today. And, I don’t know how to make it. Is all Japanese people know how to make sushi?
Just wondering….
Wednesday at 4:43 am
Yoshi-san, I’d love to join Mixi (I think it’s called.) You are always one of the funniest people on the podacsts, totemo omoshiroi desu.
Wednesday at 5:11 am
Yoshi-san, I’ll be your friend.
Wednesday at 5:15 am
Just a great podcast today. It helps so to hear the sentences broken down like that. Neat trick to be able to move parts of the sentence around. I just need to make sure to get the particle right.
I truely have a netto tomodachi. I met her online and traveled to Osaka during New Years to meet her. Then she came to the US in May and now I am going back to Osaka in August ( I know, 2 of the busiest times in Japan ). I think we have something going and I look forward to many more meetings. A great motivator for learning Japanese.
Thanks again for what you do,
Anjin

Yoshiさん,
I’ve been invited on mixi but find it hard understanding what’s going on…
Try to find a friend named iSoph…

Again, Natsukoさん appears out of the blue.
Peterさん, how about introducing her first.
Oh, and なっちゃん sounds like she has a cold. Is that so? If so, かわいそう!
Re: ネット友, the discussion boards here at JP101 are a great place to make internet friends.
Oh, a reminder, I have a review of JPOD101 on my blog. If you click on my name above, it will take you there and you can leave a comment. Kudos to Vickyさん、Lizさ & JockZonさん for your comments. You know what would make my day? If Takaseさん left a comment!
I have also started a series on the Kit Kat flavors avaiable here in Japan. If you are not in Japan, you might find this rather entertaining.

How can I get in on mixi? Will Yoshi send me an invite please?
Wednesday at 9:53 am
As to mixi, I looked at it and I can’t read enough Japanese to join, although I know you need an invitation to join………does anyone have advice? Actually, though, my life and current friends and family keep me busy enough already!
Wednesday at 10:11 am
OK, that informal track was the wackiest thing ever… it was so funny listening to Yoshi-san trying not to laugh…
PLEASE bring Shakespear Takahashi back again SOON!
Thanks for another killer podcast.
Wednesday at 11:13 am
OK, this is a question from the Learning Center, part of the Vocab questions….
“_に入るのはどれですか。
「久しぶり、 A チャラチャラしてるようだな。」「おまえもだろ、 B さまだ」
A
Your Answer:
Correct:
B
Your Answer:
Correct:
Clearly I got it wrong, because honestly I was just guessing… can anyone explain what “チャラチャラ” means..? (I wish the answers were explained a bit better… grumble, grumble).
In fact what does this whole example mean?
Wednesday at 3:54 pm

Hi Minasan!
This is Yoshi-desu! Sophie-san, thanks for your help! And I’d like to say thank you to all for your love to Jpod101!!
Whoever wants to join the mixi, you can e-mail me at
yoshihiro721@yahoo.com
and I’ll make sure I’ll get you in for FREE!!
And those who have already joined the mixi, look for me in “Humboldt State University” community. I’m also よし on mixi in Japanese. It’s pretty much in Japanese, but there are some people using English. It’s fun to see what people are up to and you can meet new people and talk to your friends so easily! Well, before I confuse myself too much with my great English, I’ll go back to mixi and be waiting for your company!

Hi there,
I know it’s a late post, but I’m still playing catch up with the lessons, so I hope you don’t mind.
I noticed a slight discrepancy between the PDF and the audio. In the PDF, Take-san says “Kanojo ga suki des”, but in the audio, I hear him say “Kanojo ga dai suki des”.
I was wondering if someone could help me understand something. Am I right in assuming that ’suki’ would actually be ‘to like’ and ‘dai suki’ would be ‘to love’? Or are they the same in this context? How could one express to ‘kind of like’ (a little) or to ‘like a lot’ (but not quite to love), as people do in English? Maybe these nuances are complicated in Japanese?
Anyway, I LOVE the podcasts. Keep it up!
Sunday at 5:35 pm
HI Patrick-san,
I’ll do my best. Well, suki can be to like, and daisuki can be to like a lot. If you wanna say to love something or someone, it is “Aishiteru” or basic form is “Aisuru”
Now, in Japanese culture where some things are not straight forward, depends on the situation or a person, you can just say suki or daisuki and you could be so in love with something or someone, too. Aishiteru is pretty strong (to me anyway) and it also makes me itchy in a way. I can say I love you so easily, but when it comes down to Aishiteru, I feel like I have to make up my mind or really desperate to say it.
And also, if you want to say I love Jpod, you can say “Jpod ga daisukidesu.” (It sounds proper to me somehow rather than Jpod wo Aishiteru” It works though! Like …if were from Japan and if you wanna say I love my country, Aishiteru sounds better to me. (deeper sense with your pride. So, I think I’m trying to say that even to love something in Japanese depends on how you wanna say it or how much you mean it and also by its situation. It’s kinda confusing, but I’m sure you just start feeling it as you keep studying. Ok, I hope it helped. If you want to ask more questions, feel free to do so!
Jpod love,
Yoshi

So glad to see people are still getting invites to Mixi… now… can I please get an invite too? ibaranick[dash]ff1[at]yahoo[dot]com. (So many people left their email addy here… Anyway… I really hope I can be friends with Yoshi and Takase!

Question regarding the informal audio… I simply can’t hear what Shakespear Takahashi said after this sentence: “明日、結婚式に出ってくれませんか? ….”

Hi Minasan!
I hope your Japanese skill is getting better! Well, unfortunately I don’t work with Jpod101 anymore, so if you want to get into Mixi, I’m sure Mr.Peter is kind enough to invite you in, right? Peter-san
(I already got you in markobe8-san!)
I don’t mind inviting people in, but I got other things to do and I might not have enough time to check all the e-mails regulary, so I hope you can understand it. Thanks everyone for having me and I hope all of you the best!!
Jpod forever!! Bye

You have to contact somebody who has a mixi account and they can invite you. Yoshi-san hasn’t done anything with JPOD for like a year, so you might want to ask someone in the Forum.

Is it still possible to get a Mixi invite? I think I remember hearing that one needs a Japanese Cell phone number, or something, to join now. JeremyRasmussne85@Yahoo.com. Arigatou
Tuesday at 8:37 am
For anyone still reading this:
Mixi now requires an email address from a Japanese keitai (cell phone) company (apparently you get one when you have a cell phone there) when you register. No email address, no account. This pretty much rules out anyone outside of Japan, unfortunately.
