I am sorry if you feel that I have been disrespectful to you or to some of the comments section readers. My apologies if that was the case but I just tried to comment on what was done in yesterday´s podcast. You thanked Danmon for keeping civil the section but, is civility Damon´s ironical comments like “when we’ll have enough vocabulary will try a critical analysis of Kant” or “people not so bright as you”? You ask for relevance to the lesson but, can listeners find relevant to today´s lesson that one person in particular “Can’t wait to listen. I am hopelessly addicted to this podcast! (…and have a 9 hour car ride today with which to review more previously missed lessons)” This message, Peter, has been saluted by you almost immediately. If you want relevance you should be the best example to keep it.

I don’t think DanMon-san and Friday listener-san aren’t quite a bit understand what other people trying to say. But, I’m not going to trying to point out here.

JPPod101…is like a family to me. I wasn’t interesting Japanese at all. I started to take a class to find something new thing to do. I didn’t have any plan or goal anything. And, I started to get into it because of jppod101. It helps me to review from my class. Without timing for seating in study, this site helps me lots to keep it up just listening. And, it becomes addict to it.

I used to Peter-san and any other staffs voice that when I go to other site I get uncomfortable. Yeah I went to Chinesepod also, yet didn’t like either.
I bought my personal ipod as well recently to hear more often this lesson. I really love this podcast.

I’m so beginner that I don’t talk much about lessons or Japanese stuffs. But, I’m enjoying the part of being with you guys and hope to do well one day like you.

We are helping, sharing, caring and welcoming everyone at here. Reading DanMon-san and Friday listener-san’s comment from yesterday, were hurting me some reasons.

Why don’t you guys tell us about yourself, and we could start from welcoming you guys?

Peter-san. I would love them twice a day, if you got the time. I mean, when do you sleep? You guys on J-pod101 are always answering all the comments so fast.

hi, I thought I should instroduce my self since Im actually a pretty active listener. My name is Esteban, Im from Costa Rica, and very glad to be part of this amazing community.

First of all Id like to thank Peter for doing such an incredible job, I love the shows, and listen to them every single day, never miss one. I find the shows so amusing, I love the fact that its not straight up grammar, and instead its all so entertaining with your jokes and very relaxed atmoshphere… arigatou gozaimasu

By the way, I must say I have been studying japanese for over 6 years, I studied in a japanese highschool here in Costa Rica (there are only two in the country) and also finished my japanese studies at the university of costa rica, yet.. my japanese isnt really very fluid, and I still have lots to learn, therefore I had been a bit stuck on the language.. even though I have so many grammar books I still found it very difficult to keep up with the language, but this podcast has really made a difference, Ive learned SO much with your intermediate classes because informal japanese is something they dont teach us much at the university, and the beginner classes are still very fun too! dakara… minnasan arigatou gozaimasu!

Im currently a student of Architecture, but there is nothing I love more in this world than Japanese, id be the happiest person alive just to be able to trasmit my japanese knowledge to other people, thats probably how peter san feels since he’s allways so excited about japanese. therefore I have a small japanese class which I teach, I told my students about jpod101 and I know they took my advice and are listening to you guys too

I hope to be more active on the community from now on, its taken a while to catch up. :p

Perhaps we were a bit unclear when we mentioned comments should be mostly relevant to the lesson. Let me clarify just a bit. Not every listener wants to go to the trouble to sign up for an account or to sign up on the forums. For these listeners, the comments is a place that they can come and post a quick hello or whatnot with no hassle. In addition, we encourage a friendly environment, so we have no problem with listeners saying hello and having some quick banter. And then there will also be questions or comments directly addressing the day’s lesson. Of course there will be times when someone is unfamiliar with the site and will post in the comments about an older lesson or something unrelated. This is understandable.

What we would rather not have in the comments is ongoing discussions that have moved away from the lessons in relevance. The keyword here is ongoing. When it is evident that a comment is turning into a full-fledged discussion, rather than crowding up the comments, we would like them taken to the forum.

From the amount of time you spend here, it is obvious that you care about JapanesePod101.com. We really do appreciate that, and we love you too. Your constructive criticism will help us improve, so please continue to share it with us, but please try to keep it in the most suitable place. I hope this has made our intentions a bit more clear and I’m sorry for any misunderstanding.

I’m sorry for this, but I feel it has to be said:

I feel people are being unduly kind to someone who is very obviously a troll (for those who don’t know, a troll is someone who comes on a message board with only one intention - to cause arguements). My first instinct when I see posts like this is to ignore it, and to block that person’s IP address so that I don’t have to read their spam. I understand that this board hasn’t had trolls before, and you’ve wanted to keep it as friendly as possible, so a “block” button hasn’t been created, but sometimes, it is necessary.

Finally, the worst kind of troll is one who says that they mean no harm, and then goes on to say bad things.

And that is the last I shall speak of Friday listener. Now, where’s my まめ? (I liked that comment, Laura )

I just listened to today’s lesson - will Natsuko never find love?!

It did show me the great new word 構う, though, which is actually very useful and I will probably use it later on today. My Japanese teacher has two different speaking classes, one on Tuesday, one Friday, and she can’t get homework ready for the Tuesday class, so I have to go in and pick it up today, so I’ll probably end up telling her that I 全然構いませんよ - thank you for this phrase!

I’m sorry, I’ve never heard the phrase 気をしないでください, and a quick google returns only 2 results.

When you have a construction which goes 全然 … ません it either means “(I) never …” or “Not at all”, so 全然構いませんよ is “I don’t mind at all”

Whereas ください means “please”, such as 気をつけてください which means “(Please) Take care”

「全然構いませんよ」means “It’s no trouble (for me) at all”, while 「気をしないでください」means “Please don’t mind” or “Please don’t be bothered (by something)”.

I believe the phrase you’re looking for is 「気にしなしでください」 and Bob-san’s translation is fine.
