Where has all this promised "extra content" gone? I thought I'd got the wrong one but I've only got a tiny list of vocab too - not even worth printing out! Have you guys gone stingy on us?
Still, I wouldn't be able to get the original if you did put it up because I let my premium subscription end and I have no plans to give you any more money. Good job too, seeing as you appear to have cut down the resources.

Hey thanks Jason-san. I was Initially looking in the forum area but didn't find anything. I should watch that area more often. Thanks so much for the tip.

btw, even though I'm a die hard Apple fan, I agree with your comment that all platforms have their pros and cons. But a little freindly rivalry between the two camps is okay I think.

cheers, beatnik

Thanks Mark for that comment about the new Apple ads. I have been meaning to mention this as well. That is my fav ad f the bunch. But I was wondering if anbody understands what she is saying at the end of the ad. The first part is easy, it just an greeting that we learned in lesson 1. I'm hoping that we can get it translated as I think it would make the ad even more enjoyable, especially since so many of us are Apple/Japan fans. Maybe a future cultue class...

cheers to all from Ottawa, Canada:mrgreen:

Am I the only one who thought about "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas" while listening to this lesson?

It was lots of fun, still, I'm with Takase, I'd go for fresh fruit for my vitamins. I've heard fresh fruit is very expensive in Japan, so maybe that's why these drinks are very popular.

Oh my goodness! If you go to the wasp drink link that Peter posted and scroll down quite a way, they explain where the wasp juice comes from. I thought it was ground-up wasp. But there's actually a complicated relationship between parent wasps and their larvae, where the wasp flies off and kills bugs that it can't eat because of its wasp-waist, makes a meatball out of them, brings the meatball back to the larva, and the larva digests it and produces a liquid to sustain the wasp. There's a little cartoon with a smiling wasp and larva. I'm not sure I can drink that stuff now! Nature is so bizarre.

Speaking of revolting food, has anyone tried birds nests? I bought some cans of birds nest drink, but I can't make myself (or anyone at work) drink it. Birds nests are made out of a special saliva produced by pregnant swallows. (They're sterilized before being made into drinks.)

I see the vocabulary is back in the mp3 lyrics field!

ありがとうございます!　(Am I spelling correctly? -I need a dictionary!)

PS
Re silkworm pupae. I have got as close as to smell them.
It's more of a snack than a dish, you can by them in a cup on the street, they are sort of sauteed in soy and you eat them with a toothpick. Said to be delicious. Alas! -I'm not brave enough..
I have a photo somewhere if anybody wants to see what they look like.
