The line by line audio is great! This is something I would like to achieve with my mp3 player. But I’ve not seen this kind of functionality yet.

Line-by-line audio is great, but only works in Internet Explorer not Netscape. That is OK.

I am still trying to figure out how to print only the lesson not the big black box or graphics (it eats up too much ink) Does anyone know a way to?

I agree: the totally black portion is really bad for ink usage!!

Use the “Select Tool” to copy a portion of the pdf page. Open AppleWorks or your word processing program. Paste it in the new document. It does work, but it’s a bit of trouble.

Vicky-san, I beleive you are referring to kim-pap, which is what you get if you wrap it around rice.
(Pap means rice)
It IS really delicious. It’s seaweed brushed with sesame oil, salted and then roasted so it goes crispy. Very nice with barbecued meat such as bulgogi and a bit of kimchi..

I think I’ll have to change my handle ot “Pedant”. The nit I want to pick this time has to do with the translation of 「竹の子」. The term is normally translated “bamboo SHOOT”, and for good reason. Normally, when you talk about any kind of sprout, you’re talking about seeds that have just germinated. A “shoot” is a broader term, that includes what farmers and botanists would call “suckers”. These spring up directly from the main plant or its roots, and that is what “take no ko” is. Bamboo, believe it or not, is a member of the grass family, and spreads primarily by runners, or roots just under the ground. In fact, it flowers only every 15, 30, 60 or 120 years, depending on the species. And when it flowers, all the adult plants die off, which is a real drag if you happen to be a panda in China. So the bottom line is that these are shoots. The stalks of the adult plants are bamboo canes.

-But here in Australia, you’d probably need to spell it with an ‘a’ to get the right effect..

I really like the line by line audio transcript, especially because it doesn’t open a new window! Also, nice to see a lesson with all the Learning Center options available. It’s fun to see this site developing this week and becoming more and more “professional”, the pdfs are looking great, today’s lesson didn’t waste a minute, and the voice actors were amazing (What a wonderful old woman voice, Noriko-san). Very impressive.

I just figured out that the line-by-line audio transcript is within the “transcript” for the lesson in the Learning Center. Wow! This is indeed a very nice tool for drilling in certain phrases and being able to focus in on the nuances of the pronunciation. Though not an absolute necessity for learners, you’re making the premium subscription more and more attractive!

Yes the line by line audio is very very good.
That alone justifies the cost of premium.

Ah, got it working. Restarted my laptop and the Learning Center tab problem went away. Then installed a Flash plugin and the arrows appeared. Very nice!

..answering my own japanese input question above:
It was working all the time.
The problem was with Firefox. The input switching method doesn’t work there. It works in other applications though. -so, cut and paste for me..
(in case someone else is struggling with this)
