What is it that Sakura says here at 1:03? I can't tell. It is slightly too fast for me. Could anyone give me the kanji/hiragana/romaji for it please? Thank you!!

Well, Kerry and other Tokyo area listeners,

Here's a "yoji" you can "arimasu" for Friday. Please come to the Apple
Store Ginza from 7 PM where the JapanesePod101 crew will be
presenting at our Mac Users Group meeting (3rd floor, theater).
Afterwards we will try to find a bar we can all fit into, and you can top it
off with a mad dash for The Last Train afterwards, or maybe put that
Capsule Hotel information to good use.

great video - I was either too lazy or too busy to learn what the kanji close-up is offering, but as I downloaded the video I somehow felt obliged to spend some time reading the pronunciations in hiragana, which was not so fast as I still don't know it well... to sum up, a real push towards learning for me!

As has been stated several times already the video was way cool. I loved the fact that the stroke order was shown. I also liked seeing the relationship of the kanji to the actual form of the mountain. I have often wodnered how the kan ji orginated. I find myself looking at each kanji, or kana form and wondering how they derived it. Very interesting stuff to me.

Sakura-san - thansk for the explanation on midori (みどり). It makes more sense when explained from this point of view.

I hope the presentation to the Mac group goes well. Ganbatte!

Arigatou gozaimasu.

MintyFresh-san, about midori:smile: 緑（みどり） is the color green and also greenery. It seems to have originated from the word "芽出る" (sprout/bud appearing). In the sense of greenery, we sometimes say "緑が多い" (midori ga ooi) to mean there are lots of greenery. In the sense of the color green, we say "緑" to anwer a question, "What color is this?" But if we want to say "green something" like "a green skirt," we say "緑色のスカート" (midori iro no sukaato). I hope that helps:wink:

Hi Jonas... Right... My family is the same way... They worry about the earthquakes..and last years Nigata tragedy didn't help matters.

BTW, did you feel the small earthquake today? I think it was located near Tsukba Ken.. I'm from the Narita area in Chiba and it was very small....maybe a 2. All the Japanese in my office barely even noticed...but whenever there is a earthquake I jump up and down and let everyone know.. I think they just consider me a novice!

Kerry-san: True. Did you ever see the japanese movie dragonhead? It is a post-fuji-erruption movie.. Not very good, but you get the image of how the Kantou (Tokyo, Kanagawa and surrounding areas) area would look like after such an erruption. A scary though. My mom is worried about me because of the earthquakes... Better not tell her about Mt. Fuji!! She'll probably come over and drag me back to Norway herself :???::lol:
