When my then fiancé wanted to get married in Japan, instead of California (I am an American, he is Japanese) to live near his family, I was a little apprehensive about my low Japanese language skills. I took a year of Japanese in high school, almost ten years ago at that point, and really hadn't been using it much since then. Until now, I have been here in Chiba, Japan for three years, working full time, and hardly ever have time to study!
